Flowers for Algernon Part 1 Questions

AFTER PROGRIS REPORT 3:


1. Why does Charlie say I never tell lies? What is he talking about?
Charlie said I never tell lies because every time he tries to lie, he gets caught.
2. What does this say about his personality and intelligence?
This shows that Charlie is not very intelligence and maybe self conscious about how
smart he is
3. Who is Algernon?
Algernon is a white mouse that does mazes.

4. What were Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss arguing about?
They were arguing about whether or not they were going to use Charlie for their tests/
study. Dr. Nemur was worried about using him, while Dr. Strauss really wanted to.

5. Charlie will be the first human being to ever have something happen to
him. What is it?
He will be the first human being ever to have his intelligence tripled by
surgical means.

6. Dr. Strauss tells Charlie not to worry about the operation. What is his
reasoning for this?
Dr. Strauss believes in him and Charlie was very worried at first. Dr. Strauss says dont be
supersitis Charlie this is sience This quote shows how Dr. Strauss will think its fine
because its science.
7. Dr. Strauss wants Charlie to concentrate on what in his journal entries?
He wants him to tell him more about how he feels and what he thinks instead of what is
happening to him

8. What is Charlies opinion of Algernon now? Why does it change?
Charlie didnt like Algernon because he always beats him. Now he still doesnt like the
mouse a lot but he still likes him a little because he now knows that he got the test too
thats why he is so smart.

that mouse. He always beats me. He says it took a long time with Afternoon before he
got times smarter than he was before

Joe and Frank are making fun of Charlie. Just like all the other people at his work.

Charlie felt he had a victory when he saw his old progress reports and saw he was doing
way better now.

Mrs. Kinnian ran out of the room because she knew that his best friends were actually
just making fun of him and not being true friends to him. She tells me that she feels sorry
for Charlie and wants to help him and be a true friend to him.

It means to act stupid or embarrassing. He gets really mad and sad because he realises
that his so called friends were making fun of him the whole time.

I didnt know what to do or where to turn. Everyone was looking at me and laughing and
I felt naked. I wanted to hide myself. I ran out into the streets Its a funny thing I never
