Illinois State Capitol 301 S 2nd St #201, Springfield, IL 62706 Dear Comptroller Munger: It is my sincere hope that now that the election is over, we can work together for the good of the people of the State of Illinois, and put aside our differences, many of which were highlighted during the long and contentious election cycle. I am sure you share my desire for a smooth, cooperative transition that causes minimal disruption to the operation of the State. Except for your gracious call on election night, we havent met or discussed next steps. It is important that we begin working toward a successful transition, especially considering that we are already on an expedited timeframe that includes the holidays. To that end, its critical that we be deliberative and thoughtful about it, using the next few weeks efficiently. Given the tremendous financial challenges facing the State, I believe it would be in the best interest of taxpayers that the transition not be rushed. I look forward to meeting with you and having our teams work together. My intention is to take the oath of office on January 3, 2017. Leading up to that date I request that your staff and my transition team meet regularly. My transition teams working group will be managed by Ms. Lauren Peters. She is ready and able to begin meeting with your staff. Please let us know who you would like us to work with to facilitate meetings and access information we may need prior to taking office. In closing, I would like to thank you for nearly two years of service to the State. I look forward to working with you in the coming weeks. Sincerely, Susana A. Mendoza Comptroller Elect
