Description of Site (1-2 Paragraphs)

GeoGebra is a website that allows you to use to create various
math activities, it can also be downloaded as an app and used on a
tablet or phone. The description on the website says it is The
Graphing Calculator for Functions, Geometry, Algebra, Calculus,
Statistics and 3D Math! and that it is Dynamic mathematics for
learning and teaching. There are activities that are already
created that can be accessed and used, or you can create your own
activities.
The intended audience of the site is for math teachers and
students. Because you can create your own activities, it could be
used in various grades. Additionally, many of the created
activities can be used among various grade. This website would
help a teacher to effectively integrate technology into the
classroom in a fun and unique way.
http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/student-activities Scholastics is an educational website with many different
(StudyJams resources. The students activities tab provides many different

activities that students can do to help them learn more or practice
(Character Scrapbook a concept they have been learning. Two activities that I looked at
http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/scrapbook/)
were StudyJams and Character Scrapbook. The StudyJams
activities are for science and math and include videos and quizzes
to check for understanding. The scholastics website says that
these activities are for grades 3-8. Then, the Character
Scrapbook allows students to describe a character they have read
about. Scholastics says this activity is appropriate for grades 1-8.
There are however, many other activities that can be implemented
in various grades and in any subject. There are activities that can
be used with the whole class using a Smart Board, as well as
activities students can individually do on their own using a
computer. Scholastics would be a good website to let students use
in order to review and practice material while using technology.

Discovery Education is an educational website for science and

math. It includes links for teachers as well as students. There are
puzzle makers, virtual field trips, and other various resources for
teachers. Additionally, there is homework help for students which
includes videos for different subjects and there is math help as
well.
The various activities and resources would provide students with
interactive ways to learn and review concepts they are learning.
Depending on the activity, they can be used for various grade
levels and subjects. It would be a good website to explore to see
what kind of activities could enhance a lesson while also
integrating technology.
Spelling City is a website that can be used to allow students to
practice spelling or vocabulary. A teacher can put up their own
words or have students use words that are already provided.
Students can then learn about those words, play games using those
words, or take a practice spelling test on those words.
Because teachers can create their own spelling and word lists or
access spelling lists based on grade, this website can be used in
various grades. Since it also includes vocabulary, it can be used in
various subjects, however I think it would most widely be used in
English. By incorporating this website into a classroom, a teacher
can provide students with a different way to practice their spelling
words and to learn new vocabulary words.
The National Geographic map maker can be used to help students
discover more about the world around them geographically. You
can search for different places, view different kinds of maps (i.e
satellite, street, terrain), pinpoint places, and add text to the map.
There is also a feature that allows you to learn more about
different countries or measure distance between two places.
This map maker has many neat features and would be good to use
for history or science in various grade levels. The teacher could
use it to show geographic features, show the location of places, or
to show oceans. Also, students can use the map maker to explore
more about the earth, its geography, and the various countries.
Lastly, the distance feature could be used for math or science
lessons about measurement or distance. Overall, this map maker
would allow students to have fun exploring more about the world

around them and would help to effectively integrate technology

into the classroom.
WebQuest.org is a website that explains what web quests are and
explains how to create your own. Additionally, it provides a link
to a source where you can search for already made web quests.
The web quests allow students to use the web to search for
information and complete the task that is provided. These web
quests can be done individually or as a small group and the task
can range from answering questions (where the answer can be
found in the web quest) to creating a type of project.
Because you can create your own web quest or you can search for
an already made web quest based on a topic, it can be used for any
grade or subject. Additionally, the source where you can search
for web quests includes the range of grades and the subject that it
is most appropriate for. Web quests can provide students with an
interactive way to learn more about a topic while using
technology.
Poll Everywhere is a polling website where you can make surveys
and others can vote using either a cell phone to text an answer or a
computer to submit an answer. This website can be used in the
classroom to take polls among the students by allowing them to
answer the poll on the computer (or using their cell phone if it is
allowed). By reviewing the results for the poll, the teacher can use
them to help show opinions or to translate them into charts or
graphs. Additionally, the poll can be like a multiple-choice test
and students can answer questions anonymously. The results of
the pole would then show the most popular answer (and hopefully
correct answer), which would help the teacher to see how well the
class, as a whole, understands the topic.
Because a teacher can create their own questions, this activity can
be used across subjects and grade levels, although younger grades
may need more assistance (there may even be another type of
polling website that can be used more easily in a classroom). It
would provide students with an interactive way to learn and
participate in the class and would help to integrate technology into
a classroom.
Brain Pop is an educational website that provides activities and
videos for students. Their videos help to explain various ideas and

topics in science, math, history, and English. After the videos,

they provide questions to help check for understanding.
Furthermore, there are games, based on the various subjects, that
can allow students to practice content they have been learning.
Brain Pop is for grades K-12, but they have different names that
brake it up into different categories. They have Brain Pop Jr for
grades K-2, Brain Pop ESL, and Brain Pop for various foreign
languages. Therefore, it can be used for various grades and
various subjects as they have science, math, English, and history
categories, along with the foreign language categories too.
Overall, Brain Pop is a fun site for students, that provides
informative videos and it can help to further integrate technology
into the classroom.
Epic is a program that provides access to books on computers,
tablets, or phones. The library of books can be personalized for
the grade level being taught and can even be personalized for each
student. They have a flyer that includes some ways it can be used
in the classroom as well as some benefits for using it in the
classroom. There are Read-to-Me books that allow students to
listen to a book being read to them and there are many different
genres to choose from, including fiction and non-fiction.
The website says that it has books that are popular for grades K-5.
Because of this, this program would be able to be used across
many grade levels. Additionally, while it may be best suited for
English, it may be good for other subjects as well because it
includes non-fiction books too. This program can help to provide
students with a different way to read by using technology that
they are so used to, and this may provide some students with a
greater desire to read.
Read 180 is a reading program that is supposed to help struggling
readers. Its claim is that is merges research in brain science,
adaptive technology, professional development and knowledge
for school and life. It has components that are for students and
educators. The educator components provide support for the
teacher, formative assessment tools, and lesson plans. The student
components are that it can help decode words, build
comprehension, and provide practice with writing.

The program offers stages for upper elementary, middle, and high
school students, therefore this program can be used across grade
levels probably starting in third grade. Because it pertains to
reading and writing, it would be implemented in English. Read
180 can be used on a computer or a tablet which would allow
technology to be integrated into helping struggling readers learn
how to read better.
