Observation Task 1: Differentiating Centers
Focus:
Differentiating centers based activities in the early childhood
classroom

Objective: To encourage student teachers to identify how classroom centers


can be differentiated to meet all student levels (Mastery, Developing and
Emerging)

Procedure: Photograph and document the centers based activities


implemented in the setting during the course of the day and identify the
learning outcomes the activities met

1. What is classroom learning center?


It is a classroom that provide learning environment that the students
can be the leader of their learning and encourage the students to learn

and apply their learning by themselves in various types of activities


and areas that suit their learning style or the way they prefer to learn
with.
2. What is the purpose of classroom learning centers?
The purposes are:

To encourage children to learn and love learning.


To gain dent will have the responsibility sense to learn and apply their
learning.
To trains the students, develop their cognitive and the other skills.
To provides the opportunity to be creative in doing the activities.

3. What is the role of the students while engaged during learning


centers?
In fact, his role is the main and the biggest one in the learning environment.
Instead of just focusing, listing for long time to the teacher and do her
decoctions, the student can lead his self to learn more, explore the new
knowledge, asks questions, solves the problem, finds the answers and able
to do the activities or the assessments by himself.
4. What is the role of the teacher as the students are engaged
during learning centers?
The teacher is facilities and assists the students, helps, engages and guides
the students to their correct way in learning.
5. Do you feel it is important to offer tasks that are
developmentally appropriate for all student ability levels? Why
/ Why not?
Of course, because each child is different in the mental abilities. If you gave
one general activity, most of your students will feel lack of intelligent and not
appropriate for learning. By this way you depressed them and by this was
you demolishes a new generation by your hand. You cannot notice and you
will never notice, because no one like to express feeling to others. Feeling
shame is not same as feeling of achieving. In our religion, teaching is
essential job in it is level because you build a future community in your
hands, so be clever in that.
