Project Methodologies

Apart from several acquaintance visits at the CFL, due to the nature of
the study a literature review was done on an effective maintenance which is

very important. During this stage a proper understanding of several

methods of analysis such as:

Using RCM approach, of past data of maintenance and inventory of

machines spares carried out on the air compressors

Applying FTA study to analyze the system and identify potential causes of

failure and hence to help troubleshooting efficiently the machine.

Applying FMECA technique to determine critical component of the

machine.
Propose the best-suited maintenance strategy to be adopted by the CFL.
This investigation concluded that the root causes could be mainly
classified as either design or maintenance issues. The rest of the project
involved using the appropriate methods to come up with several
recommendations.
