Monday 14th November

English

To compose a Mini Saga for a competition. It


has to be as if you have written the Lord of the
Rings in a 100 words! In other words it is a
condensed epic. It needs writing in a rough
draft first before adding to the competition

Maths

This week year 7 and 8's will be finishing their


work on solving equations. We have been
working on one step and multistep equations
using the balancing method. For homework
please complete p27 and 28 on solving
equations. Please do not leave it until the last
minute allow yourself time to come for support
before it is due.

Science

Year 8 will have an end of unit test next


Monday (21st Nov) and should revise for that.
The topic will be Separating Mixtures, which
includes techniques such as filtration,
distillation, evaporation, chromatography and
use of magnets. As well as Kerboodle, BBC
Bitesize is as good

Write an eye-witness account of the


assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in
Sarajevo from the perspective of a surprised
onlooker. Due in Tuesday 22nd Nov.

Mr M Fletcher

The Year 7/8 have been looking at the causes


of World War One with Mr Fletcher. This week
well be picking up on this with the deaths of
the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife
Sophie before getting stuck into the ins and
outs of Trench Warfare. Homework, set on
Tuesday and due in on Friday, will be to write a
creative account about going over the top.
Not having taught the group before I want to
get them writing so that I can see what they
can do.
