Stages of the lesson:


Activity 1
Warmer
Aims:
To review the previously learnt material
Procedure:
T greets Ss, introduces the attending teacher and checks attendance.
T asks Ss to read their homework and has them correct the mistakes they have
T asks a Ss questions from the previous lesson and assesses the answer
Activity 2
Lead in
Aims:
To elicit vocabulary
Procedure: T writes March 17th on the blackboard and elicits from the class which
national holiday is celebrated on this day. T asks the students to tell everything
they know about St. Patrick, what happens on the day and anything they may
know about Ireland.
Activity 3
Reading
Aims:
To present target vocabulary
Procedure:
T asks Ss to read the sentences describing the history of St Patrick. T clears
any unknown words and checks if Ss solved the task correctly.
Activity 4
Practice
Aims:
To give Ss controlled practice
Procedure:
Ss group into pairs. They put the sentences under the correct heading. T
monitors and clears any unknown words.
Ss read the sentences, T corrects mistakes if any.
