Education and Teacher Training Faculty. Veteran Bangun Nusantara University,
January 2013.
This study has purposes to know how the implementation of realia in the
process of teaching speaking, and how students impression in receiving realia in the
process of teaching speaking to the Fourth year students of State Elementary School 2
Jatisari Jatisrono Wonogiri at the First Semester in the Period 2012/2013. Whereas,
the elementary school is a basic level for everyone who begin learning English
Language, and also can be as a good foundation to acquire new language.
The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The
approach of the method is try to describe the real event on the field. In this case, that
the understanding of Realia by all elements in the school is reflected on the process of
teaching learning especially in teaching speaking.
The sample is chosen consider to the purpose of the study. The sample are
thirty of fourth year students of SDN Jatisari 2 Jatisrono Wonogiri in the first
semester. The data collected by observing the process of teaching speaking using
Realia and the researcher also interviews the teacher as the creator of the media and
the students who receive the effort.
The result of the study shows that the teacher gives effort in teaching speaking
using Realia based on the need of students ability to communicate with others. The
teacher creates the classroom atmosphere to encourage students to speak, for example
giving section where students recognize what the media is about. The teacher gives
chance and opportunities by presenting examples how to say, to spell, to pronounce,
and to answer something related to the object being discussed. The teacher also
creates enjoyable and free from pressuring atmosphere of learning to support the
students motivation. The students able to receive the material through the technique
used easily and encouraged them to speak. Shortly, that the Realia is suitable to use in
teaching speaking, the implementation of Realia is very useful and also suit with
purpose expected, and the students have an excitement behavior being cheerful to the
Realia.

most merciful and Beneficent. Due to Him mercy and blessings, the writer can
accomplish his thesis entitled THE IMPLEMENTATION OF REALIA IN
TEACHING SPEAKING TO THE FOURTH YEAR STUDENTS IN SDN 2
JATISARI as the requirement to be fulfilled to graduate from Veteran Bangun
Nusantara University Sukoharjo.
Peace be upon to my Prophet Muhammad Saw, the last messenger of
Allah, who will be here for all his followers in the life after. The writer realizes
that this thesis cannot be finished without other peoples help, so that the writer
