Lobby Centerpiece Making

MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES

1. The competition is open to the following programs in JIB-ISHTM: HRM, ENTREP, CULINARY,
AND TOURISM.
2. There will be one (1) entry from each team.
3. The team in the competition is composed of two (2) students per team.
4. Minimum of five (5) feet, consisting of 60% flowers 40% decorative materials (may include drift
wood, chicken wire, risers, floral foam, banana stalk etc.)
5. Competitors must bring their own materials for the competition. Execution must be completed
within two (2) hours in the competition area.
6. Each team will provide their own props for the Lobby Centerpiece.
7. Each team may use edible materials if they opt to.
8. Contestants of each team are required to wear:
For Male Contestant: white long sleeves, black vest, bow tie, black slacks, Black socks,
black leather shoes, name plate and school ID
For Female Contestant: white long sleeves, black vest, black scarf, black skirt, black
stockings, black leather shoes, name plate, school ID, pearl earrings, light make-up,
and hair must be neatly fixed in a bun.
9. Each team is required to bring black trash bag for their waste items.
10. Failure to comply with the mechanics and guidelines stated above will automatically render the
team concerned in default.
CRITERIA

Color Harmony: 20 points

Refers to the relation of colors to one another in the arrangement, which makes for a
and unified arrangement of flowers and foliage

Balance and Uniformity: 10 points

Involve the volume and the color of materials and making sure that the weight of one side of the
arrangement is equal to the other side.

Distinction and Originality: 40 points

Show style that is uncommon, out of the ordinary, and not imitated. The constructive
expression of the competitors personality should be imaginative, inventive,
unique,
being bizarre.

Condition: 20 points

Flowers should look fresh and crisp with no wilting or color fading. There should be no
of disease or insect injury, or old or wide-open flowers.

Hotel Lobby factor: 10 points

Centerpiece must be appropriate for a hotel lobby and it must be eye catching.
