Abstract Facebook (FB) launched a personal digital

assistant inside of FB Messenger app that completes tasks
and searches information on your command. It runs just
like Siri which is powered by artificial intelligence that is
programmed, trained and supervised by people. Unlike
Siri and other AI-based services available in the app store,
M can manage your task on your command. It can book
you flights and restaurants, schedule appointments,
purchase items and other more features that it can cover.
Keywords Ethics, Moral Issues, Technology, Artificial
Intelligence, Digital Assistant

For now, M doesnt pull from the social data

Facebook collects to complete tasks. So, if you request a
gift for your wife, the service will make suggestions
based only on your answers to questions it asks you and
previous conversations you and M have had. According
to David Marcus, vice president of messaging products
of Facebook says that may change at some point, with
proper user consent. The service is free, and will be
available to all Facebook Messenger users eventually.

ADVANTAGES

I. INTRODUCTION
Input processing had never been more innovative.
Before, we had to have expert knowledge of machine
syntax in order to communicate with a computer. In the
contemporary communicating with a computer is as easy
as talking to a person. The creation of M, an artificialintelligence powered digital assistant, marks the shift in
the paradigm of having a personal assistant. You can
communicate with it via text using your messenger app.
It does many things that other digital assistants cannot. It
can place orders online and book hotels. Due to these
types of tasks, it is impossible for an AI powered
technology to be accomplished in this era. To
accommodate those services, Facebook uses the help of
its employees for it to train and supervise with the app.

II. HOW IT WORKS

Users will tap a small button at the bottom of the
Messenger app to send a note to M, the same way they
might message anyone on Facebook. The app works by
just sending a message to M. Ms software will decode
the natural language, ask follow up questions in the
message thread, and send updates as the task is
completed. Users wont necessarily know whether a
computer or a person has helped them.

Semi-automated personal assistants may be a tool to

ease some burden to many people, mostly to who are
busy. Due its complexity, its technology is based on two
algorithms, conditional random fields and maximum
entropy classifiers, which are used in AIs for more
than a decade. Ms AI continues progress as it is being
used and being trained by us humans.
The convenience in having this is just like having a
butler to do your necessities for you own pleasure.
Booking a flight with ease with just a few message to M
and a confirmation would accomplish it.

IV.

DISADVANTAGES

A. PUBLIC
Since M is an offspring of a social network, your personal
information is being given out to Facebook. Your transactions
and things you send to M are recorded in their system.
B. SEMI-AUTOMATED
Since it is semi-automated it may be prone to human error
and it may have biases on which restaurant, airline, and other
brands that Facebook sponsors. It may not give you
economical choices that would cut your budget.

V. ETHICAL IMPACT
A. SAFETY AND SECURITY
B. PRIVACY
Credit card and banking information
C. ECONOMICAL

VI.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

Maintain the control of AI
