Fighting for

the Liberal
Stance
The first debate in
coming up this
Wednesday, Nov. 9, and it
is the first look voters will
have at the separate
platforms of the
candidates and what
experience and knowledge
each can bring to the
table.
There are three
democratic candidates
running this year, Hammod
Massod, Sarah Guenov,
and Matt Turman. Each of
these candidates has
campaigned through an
online website and print
ads prior to the debate,
and believes they have the
best platform for the
public.
My interview with
Sarah Guenov this past
week went splendidly. She
appeared poised and was
direct with her points and
ideas. Guenov wants to
cut back on the corruption
she believes is prevalent
in our current government.
This causes inefficiency in
the process, which she
hopes to prevent if she is
elected. Guenov is
strongly for vaccinating
children. Yes vaccinate
children, Im not an idiot.
She advocates for
vaccinations because she
believes not doing so
harms the most
vulnerable children in our

society. Guenov also

supports

minimum wage, and if

elected plans to raise it to
about $10. Any more, she
says, would be too much.
Hammod Massod
is the second democratic
candidate in the debate
this coming Wednesday.
He is running with the
hopes of bringing science
and facts back into our
governmental process.
Our current legislature, he
believes, is too
opinionated. He too
supports vaccinating
children, and believes the
rumors about autism being
a side effect of these
vaccines need to be
silenced. If elected,
Massod also plans to raise
the minimum wage,
however quite a bit more
than
what
Guenov

advocates. Massod
proposes that a minimum
wage of at least $12 would
be the most beneficial to
the people in this state.
And when asked about
what his plans were
concerning the illegal

immigrant population in
Texas, Massod stated that
he would grant amnesty to
those currently employed,
and deport everyone else
so they can enter our
country legally instead.
The last democratic
candidate that we will see
on the stage this
Wednesday is Matt
Turman. Turman believes
everyone should have
access to vaccines,
however he does not
intend to mandate or
enforce them in the state.
He also
hopes
to
change
the

minimum wage so that the

rich are paying most of the
taxes in the hopes of
supporting the poorer
people of the country.
Turman believes this will
help give everyone an
equal shot at the American
dream. As for his stance
on illegal immigration,
Turman hopes to pass
policies that will make the
citizenship process easier,
and in the meantime grant
current illegal immigrants
amnesty so they can
continue working toward a
better life.
