DM-2 Automatic Driller

AXONs Derrick Master-2 (DM-2) Automatic Driller is a compact
yet powerful control package that allows for exceptional block
speed regulation for DC or AC rigs. Available with options for
drawworks with disk or band brakes, the DM-2 incorporates
continuous monitoring of the traveling blocks position and
hook-load.
Furthermore, the DM-2 provides safety features related to
elements such as: travel limits, pull limit, kinetic energy
monitoring, and maximum tripping block speed regulation.
When necessary, the controller can also effectively activate
the appropriate signals to regulate the traveling blocks speed
in conjunction with both the auxiliary brake throttle and foot
throttle signals. This, in conjunction with the DM-2s optimized
design, helps you acheive reliable control and safer work
conditions for your rig.

Detects, warns, and protects against collisions to the crown by monitoring the blocks movement using an

encoder in the Drawworks drum and a block height calibration procedure

Detects, warns, and protects against collisions to the floor with intelligent algorithms that take into account the

weight on the hook, block speed, braking capacity, and brake response time

Prevents hoisting with closed BOP rams

Prevents overloading the derrick with pull limit protection

Prevents collisions to the racking board with the top drive elevators while being extended

Provides the safeguarding provisions of a traditional system for monitoring and managing kinetic energy while

also incorporating safeguards for the substructure

The primary Derrick Master sensors determine the traveling blocks speed/position (height) and hook-load

measurement; these parameters allow the system to calculate speed, position, kinetic energy, and distance
needed to stop

Allows for ROP and WOB regulation

Utilizes a load shared approach for lowering speed control using both electromagnetic (auxiliary) brake and

band brake providing exceptional ROP control

Automatic driller band brake integration hardware is fully supplied with the DM-2 Automatic Driller option

Disk brake integration requires a disk brake control based on servo or proportional valves to be available on

the rig
