Position Description for:

PROGRAM OFFICER
The Grove Foundation

Reports To:

Co-Executive Director

The Organization:

The Grove Foundation is a philanthropic family foundation based in Los


Altos, California. Our primary program areas are reproductive health,
immigrant integration, and local safety net services.

Principal
Responsibilities:

The Program Officer will primarily be responsible for grantmaking,


monitoring/evaluation, and grant administration related to key areas of the
Foundations sexual and reproductive health program especially sex
education. In addition, the Program Officer will undertake research and
analysis for the Foundations primary program areas. Finally, the Program
Officer will lead and facilitate the Foundations cross-issue organizational
effectiveness program.
Specifically, the program officer will:

Understand and stay current on the greater context of the Foundations


sexual and reproductive health program area
Provide program management for WISE (Working to Institutionalize
Sex Education), including contributing to strategy formulation;
conducting due diligence on potential grants; monitoring grants;
overseeing the technical assistance and learning programs; leveraging
www.wisetoolkit.org; disseminating information about WISE in written
and verbal presentations; conducting grants administration; and working
with an external evaluator
Act as program officer and grants administrator on additional
reproductive health grants
Perform ad-hoc research, analysis, and presentations/reports for
foundation program areas, as needed including on trends, best
practices, data, dashboards, and emerging research
Lead and facilitate a cross-issue organizational effectiveness (OE)
program, including stay abreast of and communicating best practices in
supporting OE; determine criteria for participation in Foundationsupported OE programs; convene regular internal meetings and
facilitate internal decision making regarding allocation of the
Foundations OE budget; monitor and report on OE funded projects;
and conduct grant administration for OE funded projects
Perform other duties as assigned

Experience in the field of education and/or sex education


Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize and present research/data

Travel:

Candidates must be able to travel (within the U.S.) an estimated 10-15%


time
