CREATIONS
Knitting for babies is fun and rewarding, but there are also
practicalities to consider. By Lizzie McCauley.
very new baby deserves to be
wrapped in soft things to keep them
warm and feeling safe. As knitters,
we indulge in the opportunity to do this
through pieces we have crafted ourselves
with our own skill and expertise.
Knitting garments and accessories for
the newest arrivals in our lives is a very
different experience to knitting for
ourselves or other adults. The whirlwind
excitement and passion of finding a
delicious yarn and the perfect pattern is
swapped for a more considered approach,
taking our time to make sure every detail is
perfect. This is not just your next sweater,
this is something that might be cherished
and kept for generations, and its impact is
about much more than just keeping a
miniature person warm.
Baby patterns are everywhere. From
multicoloured hoodies to exquisite lace

How to use our charts
Our charts are illustrations of
patterns, and are used instead of
writing the pattern out in full. With
charts, you can instantly see what
youll be knitting. Each stitch is
represented by a symbol, and youll
start knitting at the bottom
right-hand corner. Right side rows
are read from right to left and
wrong side rows from left to right.
Each row of squares represents a
row of knitting.
