2 What question will you answer with your science fair project? (Hint: Pick one

clear question.)
Do different liquids travel down a ramp at different speeds?
___
3. Give me a description of your project idea. This must be at least a paragraph

long.
For my project I want to see if different liquids flow down a ramp at different speeds. One day I
was watching a show and saw a bear eating honey and thought, Thats a sticky liquid. In the
next scene I saw the bear sliding down a hill that had been rained on. I want to be able to test
different liquids like water, oil, honey, ketchup, and other substances to see if there is any
difference. I plan on taking measurements of the time to see if one is the fastest or if they are all
the same.
_
4. What will be your manipulate variable (independent variable)? This is the one

thing you are changing between tests.

The variable that is changing during the experiment is the substance/liquid.
____
5. What will be your responding variable? This is what you are measuring

after/during each test. (Hint: Judges like when you can measure your results
with a scientific tool.)
I will measure the time it takes for the liquids to move over a set distance.

___
6. You should try to keep all other variables the same or constant. What are some

variables that you might need to keep constant in this experiment?

I will keep the angle of my ramps the same for all trials. I will keep the distance that each liquid
needs to travel the same for all trials.
___
7. List all the materials you think you will need to complete this experiment.
A ramp, water, oil, vinegar, ketchup, honey, milk, timer, data sheet.
___
8. Do you foresee any potential problems or challenges in doing this project? If

so, what are they?

Keeping the ramps the same/dry. If I keep doing oil on a ramp and then dont clean it and do
water next, the oily ramp will affect my results for water. So I will need to clean up the ramp
before I do each trial. _
