Through the research of Harry Wong, Rick Lavoie, and Madeline Hunter I have been able
to come up with a classroom plan that is personalized to my educational philosophy as a
future teacher. I believe that the key to a successful classroom starts before the students
ever enter the room. My classroom will be arranged in a way to give the students optimal
time on task, as well as always having a clear view of the procedures, rules and
consequences. Before the students enter my class I will greet them because I know that I
only have a few seconds to make my first impression and assert myself as the authority in
the classroom. The philosophy I will follow is understanding that I am not my students
friend, instead I am their teacher, and as long as I do my job and teach them the content,
then I should not care if I make an enemy or two. The most important thing that I have
learned is that students succeed when they are believed in and feel safe. I will make sure
that my classroom is a safe and welcoming environment so that all my students can
improve their knowledge and grow.
