Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation
and leadership from completing this field experience?
This field experience was the data overview. The purpose of the data overview was to review and
reflect on state data to determine what the needs of the students in my school are, what students
are having the most learning difficulties, what content areas are students having difficulties with
the most, and what can be done to improve the learning in the school. I learned that technology
can help improve the analysis and organization of useful data and can help present the information
in an engaging way to help teachers understand the needs of students. I learned that being a leader
in a school requires that person to understand the needs of ALL students in the school and
strategies that can improve the school. Its important for a leader to share this valuable information
with staff at the school.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must
you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a
technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in
Part I. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3
knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
The candidate must know how to properly use technology to research, analyze and reflect on data
and then be able to share that information with others. They must also know the importance of
different types of data that can be used in determining needs for students. The leader must be able
to organize this information clearly and effectively share it with others and make it engaging. The
leader must be enthusiastic about sharing this material and believe that the information will help
improve the teaching and learning at the school or no one else will.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty

development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This positively impacts the school and staff by determining if the professional development and
other learning for teachers that has been offered were effective or not. Faculty can understand if
they need to improve more in some areas compared to others and organize their teaching based on
the feedback from a data overview. By coming up with a decisions on the data, school leaders can
determine if they need to make changes and adjustments which will positively affect the school
environment and the strategies teachers use. Students will benefit by having proven credible
teaching strategies used in their classes to engage them in their learning experiences. This impact

can be assessed by teacher observations, administration observations, and teacher and student
feedback, and different types of data that occur throughout the year.
