Strand 3 Civics/Government Concept 4: Rights, responsibilities, and roles of
citizenship PO 3. Describe the importance of citizens being actively involved in
the democratic process (i.e., voting, student government, involvement in
political decision making, analyzing issues, petitioning public officials).
Objective (Explicit):
Students will analyze how voting in a caucus and primary work and how they
are different from each other.
Evidence of Mastery (Measurable):
Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding by running their own in class
caucus and voting in their own primary after researching candidates.
Sub-objectives, SWBAT (Sequenced from basic to complex):
SWBAT explain how a caucus and primary work
SWBAT create a caucus then have then run their own
SWBAT research the candidates using their websites
SWBAT execute a vote in a mock primary
SWBAT evaluate why they chose that person to back up their decision with a
one page written response
