Architectural

1.1

Site Signboard

1.1.1

Site signboard that has been erected does not conform to required graphical standard. The Main
contractor is to have the site signboard reprinted by 4th November 2016.

1.2

Boundary wall

1.2.1

It was noted that the Main contractor had not sought approval for stone to be used in constructing
the boundary wall.
The Main contractor was informed that all materials are to be approved before they are used in the
project.

The Main contractor is to retest the boundary wall stone for strength and absorption as instructed
by the structural engineer

Construction works to the boundary wall will be on hold until the construction stone is approved.

Finish to boundary wall will be as follows;


Kemu and Post office boundary wall will be plastered and painted internally to side facing
hotel and keyed to face facing the neighboring plots to architects approval.
Front walls facing Hospital road and Nanyuki Nairobi Highway will be plastered and
painted to both sides to architects approval.

Reinforcement to boundary wall columns will be Y12 and Y8 rings this was after the contractor
confirmed unavailability of specified R6 bars. The 5.5mm bars the contractor was using on site
were rejected by the structural engineer, the contractors substitution of R6 with Y8 was accepted
by the structural engineer.

The client has confirmed that Survey of plot boundaries is ongoing and the beacons to the hotel
plot will be placed by the county surveyors.

1.3.1

Re - routing of rainwater pipes away from the reception area will be advised by the mechanical
engineer.

Sample rooms

1.4.1

Bathroom entrance aluminum door is to be fabricated without a mid rail as per detail drawing.

Room window glass should be as specified 6mm laminated, not single pane

Bathroom door opening to room type c is to open outwards.

Room type c consumer unit to be on new wall extension as instructed in the site instruction book.

Sample room tile supplied by the contractor were not approved. The interior designer will visit Saj
ceramics and provide suitable ceramic tile codes to the contractor.

The contractor will be given instructions to proceed with walling to all the rooms on the 5th of
November 2016

The Main contractor is to ensure proper setting out of walls , walls to be strictly plumb Jasir
and plastered evenly , plastered wall planes are to be perfectly horizontal and vertical as
explained on site.

2.0

Structural

2.1

Reinforcement for columns bases and strip footing (GLA-6.5-14, 6-H/15-10) was Jasir
inspected with the following remarks
(i) All links for all 600 x 200 columns should be as shown in RD02
(ii) All 5mm diameter links should be replaced with 6mm dia links as shown in the
drawing RD02
(iii) Contractor should adhere to structural drawings provided

2.2

BRC mesh on site was inspected and was found to be 5mm in dia. This should not be Jasir
used for structural purposes

2.3

Ballast on site was inspected. Some heaps were found to be consisting of aggregate which Jasir
was greater than 20mm. These batches should be removed from site.

2.4

The contractor is to resubmit all materials test results and trial mix cube results to the Jasir
structural engineer prior to concreting

2.5

Reinforcement for columns on GL11.AC should be incorporated with the retaining wall Jasir
reinforcement on GL11.AC

2.6

Clear all debris from blinding surface prior to concreting

3.0

Mechanical

3.1

Main contractor to provide access hatch to the ceiling void in the washrooms for
installation and maintenance of ventilations system, architect to advise on size and
location

J6 & J8 towards Grid I5 to avoid having manholes in the lobby
