Around the World in

80 Days
I like the ending of the novel Around the
World in 80 Days by Jules Verne because it
ends happily. Phileas Fogg wins the
challenge to race around the world in 80
days successfully and he also finds love.
First, Fogg thinks he has lost the bet and
his life is ruined. He feels bad and
apologises to Aouda for bringing her to
England and failing to help her start a new
life. Aouda feels she is to blame because
she delayed him. She wants to be his wife
and then, Fogg proposes. Aouda accepts his
proposal and they plan to marry.
Then, there is a twist to the story, when
Passepartout discovers that Fogg still can
win the challenge. In the end, Fogg reaches
the Reform Club in time to win the bet.
I like the ending because Fogg is not
ruined and he and Aouda will have a happy
life together.
