CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction
Online Ordering System has been part of the business industry for ages. It
became a creative tool for the bigger profits and also for broadening the business
operation which includes the advertising and the sales of the company. It is one
of the creative features of the Internet that increases the interest of the
customers to the companies products. Since the system is automated, it ensures
the development of the customer service. The automation of ordering, tracking,
payment and other operational process guarantees the accuracy and reliably of
the system. Meanwhile, it lowers the operational cost that consumes the
companies by requiring the employees to do the manual labor. The system has
developed along with the technology to offer the influential means of processing
the customers order. The system captures the customers order data directly or
from the service employee, it stores the data in the database and direct the
information to the shipping units. The Online Ordering System tracks the data in
every way. Online Ordering System will be reliable in terms of transaction to the
customers as well as to the management of the company. The system will
provide reports and other processing data so that it can keep track of the
ordering process.
The system will be helpful to the existing system of the company by
decreasing the time and effort of the transaction spent in a manual process and

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
A review of related literature and studies is the theories which the
researchers use to explain the existence of a research problem and use as
bases in analyzing relationship between variables can be generated from
reference books and of collecting, selecting and reading books, journals, reports,
abstract and other reference materials.

Title: Vision and Scope Document for Cafeteria Ordering System
Author: Karl Wiegers
Date: November 2002

The proponents of this study developed a Cafeteria Ordering System for

the Project Impact employees. The system was developed because of the time
and effort spent by going to the real cafeteria. The employees spent an average
of 90 minutes by going to and from cafeteria, selecting their meals and paying for
their meals by cash or credit. Other employees call the cafeteria in advance to
order a meal and to be ready for them to pick up. In order to save the employees
whose time are lessen due to their work, such a system increased the chance of
getting the foods they prefer and not to spent of more than an hour of going to

able to order meals from the cafeteria menu that can be picked up or delivered.
Employees were able to order meals from the company cafeteria or from local
restaurants through internet. The Cafeteria Ordering System were also able

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Method Use
The proponents conducted a survey along Barangay San Antonio,
Paranaque from where the business is located. The Barangay has a total of
64865 on its population.
The proponents used a Descriptive Method on gathering data, software
development and solicit response. The Descriptive Method concentrates on the
interpretation of gathered data and fact-finding. This method uses statistical
inference on the proponents target audience through data analysis by gathering
quantifiable information. As a consequence, this type of method takes the form of

closed-ended questions, which limits its ability to provide unique insights.

Descriptive Method also describes events and then organizes, tabulates, depicts,
and describes the data collection by gathering data. (Glass & Hopkins, 1984)
Descriptive statistics utilize data collection and analysis techniques that
yield reports concerning the measures of central tendency, variation, and
correlation. The combination of its characteristic summary and correlational
statistics, along with its focus on specific types of research questions, methods,
and outcomes is what distinguishes descriptive research from other research
types.
The purpose of the research methodology is to provide enough evidence
and observations that will test the proponents hypothesis. This evidences and
