Italian music ranges in a wide range of opera and classical instrumental music and
popular music drawn from indigenous and imported sources. Music has traditionally
been one of the cultural markers of the Italian national and ethnic identity and has an
important position in society and in politics. The best known artists are Eros
Ramazzotti, Pavarotti, Tiziano Ferro, among others. The most practiced and most
important sport in the country is soccer, being AC Milan, Juventus, Internazionale
Milano and AS ROMA the most remarkable soccer teams in country, the most important
event for the Italian soccer is the Italian derby, facing Internazionale Milano and
Juventus in an exciting match. Significantly, the Italian national football team has won 4
WorldCup Titles.
The most important festivals are the Domenica di Pasqua, the Capodanno, the
Liberazione, and Tutti i Santi. Christians (Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, etc.) along
with Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons represent the majority religion. However the
87.8% of Italians declare themselves Catholics, being one of the highest percentages in
Europe. The most important places to visit are the Roman Coliseum, the Vatican, the
Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain.
