Introduction
1.1
Lark Energy is a specialist energy company which forms part of the Larkfleet Group, a
privately owned construction and development group based in the East Midlands. Since 1998
the Group has delivered award-winning, high quality sustainable developments using
innovative technology and construction methods. Lark Energy works with a number of
European supply partners who have a long track in the manufacture and installation of
commercial scale solar farms.
1.2
This Statement provides details on the methodology by which the proposed Solar Farm will
be constructed and the parameters under which that construction is expected to take place.
2.0
Site Access
2.1
During the construction period, the site is proposed to be accessed from a single access off
Fen Road. The uses of this access is discussed in the separate Transport Statement.
2.2
A temporary construction compound will be constructed within the western part of the
application site. The compound will accommodate up to 5 no. temporary portacabin-type
buildings in addition to an area for material storage. These portacabins are required for
offices, toilets, canteen and storage and each will be between 6-8.5 metres in length. There
will also be area for parking together with an area for delivery vehicles to turn around and
exit the site in a forward gear.
2.3
No vehicle parking, loading or unloading will take place within the public highway and
suitable wheel washing facilities will be installed (if required) to ensure that no mud or debris
is deposited on the public highway during the construction period.
2.4
2.5
Where there are no existing tracks, suitable tracks will be constructed to enable vehicular
access at all times for the purposes of maintaining the fixed plant, boundary fences, security
and landscaping.
Any temporary compound, including any surplus materials or equipment, Portacabin type
building, wheel washing facilities (if required), signage or other plant associated with
construction of the site will be removed from the site no later than one month after the solar
farm first comes into operation.
3.0
Deliveries
3.1
All PV equipment will be delivered to the site directly from the Port of Felixstowe.
The route will not pass through any major settlements or small villages.
The route is from the Port of Felixstowe following the A14, A134, A17 and A52 to Fen Road
Boston. See the TRANSPORT STATEMENT for details.

5.1
The operational solar farm will be secured by the erection of a suitable boundary fence
detailed in the Design and Access Statement.
5.2
Infra-red security cameras will be installed around the perimeter of the development site.
5.3
5.4
Any temporary construction compound provided to store the necessary equipment and
materials required to install the solar farm will be dismantled and removed within one month
of the site becoming operational.
6.0
6.1
Construction of the solar farm comprises the erection of photovoltaic panels on steel frames
suitably secured into the ground.
The frames will be fabricated off site using galvanised steel and then bolted together in-situ.
The frames will be driven into the ground at a depth of 1 - 1.5m. The majority of the posts
will be fixed using screw panels. A concrete fill to secure the frames may occasionally be
required to secure the posts where the sub-soil is of an insufficient depth, however such
circumstances are not anticipated in relation to this site.
6.2
6.3
The photovoltaic panels are then bolted to the frames. The individual panels will be
connected together by low voltage cables buried in underground trenches. Once the cables
are installed the excavated soil can be reinstated.
7.0
Grid Connection
7.1
The arrangement of the solar farm will consist of many groups of panels each connected on
separate circuits via underground cables to an Inverter.
Connections between the transformer and national grid will be by way of underground cable.
Off-site grid connection works will be carried out by the network operator under their
statutory and regulatory powers.

8.0
8.1
The total construction period for a solar farm of this size is typically 16 weeks, including prepreparation of the site, fencing, assembly and erection of the photovoltaic panels,
installation of the inverters/transformers and grid connection.
All plant and materials other than required for maintenance and repair and any temporary
access works will be dismantled and removed within one month of the solar farm coming
into operation.
Any landscaping required as part of the planning consent will be provided in the first planting
season following the implementation of the planning consent. Where this may occur
following the commencement of operation, plant and materials in connection with the
landscape proposals will be delivered by the approved site access.
