as Visharad from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and his name appeared in the faculty list of
the same prestigious institute. Thus he started teaching Astrology. Meanwhile he got
associated with and kept on teaching at Indian council of Astrological Sciences,

Preface
Today "Horoscope matching" has become the indispensable part of Hindu marriage.
But it has not been mentioned in any old Jataka scripture of Astrology. However, it has
been described in the Muhurta scriptures of the same. In Ramayan, marriage of Rama,
Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna has been described elaborately. But, in this
great epic also Horoscope matching has not been mentioned. Likewise, in
Mahabharata, too, it has not been cited. Therefore, it can be said that Horoscope
matching in Astrology was not in practice a few centuries ago. But, the community
accepted and made it an indispensable part keeping its usefulness in view.
Different systems of Horoscope matching are in practice in different parts of India. In
North India, Ashtakuta matching is in practice whereas in South Dasakuta matching is
in fashion. But Ashtakuta matching is in vogue in most part of India. This is why the All
India Federation of Astrologers' Societies has accepted and prescribed this system
of Ashtakuta matching forthe courses of its students.
The book has been written keeping in view the courses introduced by the All India
Federation of Astrologers' Societies, Delhi. The students are advised to study "Kundali
Milana-Sukhi Dampatya Jeevana Ka Adhar" written by the author of this book because
prediction of a happy married life cannot be made by Ashtakuta matching only. This
shows only the amity, love and mutual understanding between the two. But to determine
the age, health and ups and downs in life of the couple some other aspects such as
Period-sub-period, Dosha Samya etc. are also essential to be analysed. An analysis
of long conjugal life is essential for its stability. So, apart from Ashtakuta matching, we
should keep in view other aspects also. To know all this, "Kundali Milan - Sukhi
Dampatya Jeevana Ka Adhara" is prescribed.
I am obliged to the All India Federation of Astrologers' Societies, Delhi- its
President Mr. Arun Bansal in particular-withoutwhose inspiration the book could
not have seen the light of the days.

Chapter-1

Importance of Matching
When, Why and How?
Reasons behind Failure:
By matching, we try to find the nature, mental disposition and liking of both the boy and
the girl. People having similarity in their nature, mentality and taste fall in love with
each other. If there is no similarity in their nature and liking, they start criticizing each
other that causes dispute, difference of opinion and hatred. They become enemies of
each other and their conjugal life turns into hell.
Many say that marriages have proved failure even after matching and difference of
opinion has been noted among many couples. Many couples opt for divorce being fed
up with day to day disputes. Many pass their life full of sorrow. There prevails a curiosity
among the students in this regard and they frequently raise questions in their class that
why they should match their horoscope? So, it is essential to solve this problem before
matching the horoscopes of prospective husband and wife. The main points are as
follows.
1. Matching by call-name

On many occasions it has been noted that matching of a boy with that of a girl is made
by their call name due to the unavailability of their horoscopes. Some aspects before
matching, such as similarity between the two families, their education, their salary etc
while similarity in both the boy and the girl and their friendship are often ignored.
How can a girl of a rich family feel happy if she is married with a boy of a poor one?
Likewise, if an educated boy is married with an uneducated girl, then difference in
their nature and taste is natural. So, it is advised to look into the similarity between the
families of the two and between the boy and the girl as well before going for a Match
making.
Secondly, matching by call-name is also not justified; matching should be made on the
basis of horoscope only. It is just possible that a boy or a girl may have several names.
Parents of a boy or a girl may call him/her by some name out of love whereas he/she
may have some different name in business. They may have their second name. To
make it clear, take an example. A boy who is called Happy by the members of his
family whereas he has been admitted in the school by Harsha and in business his
Horoscope Matching

second name Kursija will be used, if he is Kursija. Now the question arises that by
what name Horoscope matching should be done? The answer is by all the three names.
So, Horoscope matching is not possible by name.
Inauspicious Dosha Milan can be found out by the Horoscope only. Age i.e. longevity,
period, Maraka planet etc. can be calculated only by horoscopes. Match making by
name is nothing but to tread a beaten track - it is rather contrary to the Shastras and
unreasoning as well.
2. Why the horoscopes often prove to be incorrect?

Previously, horoscopes were not found to be correct since they were made manually.
Pandits and priests were not adept. Astrology was based on tradition. But today the
advent of computer has revolutionised the field. However, it is essential to keep in
view the programme of the computer by which the horoscope has been prepared. So,
matching is advised by contemplating two horoscopes prepared on two different
places.
It is also advised to see whether the horoscope is correct or not before Match making.
How can a matching be correct if the horoscopes are not correct? So, the time, date
and place of birth of a native must be kept in view.
3. Match making by an inexperienced astrologer.

Match making should be done by a well-versed, adept and experienced astrologer. A

large number of astrologers are there, mushrooming in our country, who are not
conversant with Astrology. For the matching of constellations, these astrologers depend
on table only. Thus an astrologer of this type synchronises horoscopes of two strangers
within 5 minutes determining thereby the fate and pros and cons of their married life.
And surprisingly, we also accept the same without going deep into it. If you go to a
doctor with a complaint of cough, he will advise you to get your blood, sputum tested
and to have an x-ray of your chest. Then only he will prescribe you some medicines.
But contrary to this we want to get the problem of our life solved within a few minutes
as if this is a matter in a trice. Ironically, today every Karmakandi Pandit, Kathavachaka,
priest, mendicant and saint considers himself to be an astrologer. All of them earn
money out of ignorance of the people in need.
An astrologer must be a mathematician. He should also be well versed in Gochar and
Astrology. It is also essential for him to be learned. If an uneducated astrologer makes
prediction of a person, he plays with his life. But it is a pity that there is no punishment
for this type of astrologers. A doctor cannot prescribe medicines to a patient if he is
not registered by the government. But an astrologer does not need any registration.
Even an illiterate priest can also make prediction of the life and fate of a person.
2

Horoscope Matching

As I think, prediction of life and fate can be made by horoscope matching. So, it is
better to go for a horoscope matching by a learned astrologer, as it is better to die
under the treatment of an experienced doctor rather than to get life saved under the
treatment of a less skilled one. The illiterate astrologers talk of intuition and spiritual
enlightenment to save themselves from being charged and accused. There is a great
difference between intuitions of an experienced and an illiterate astrologer. It is always
advised to avoid jugglery of world. So, it is always better to get a horoscope matching
done by an experienced astrologer, educated and well-versed in Astrology. Match
making done this way has an impact on the future life of a native. The children of a
couple happen to be intelligent if they lead a happy married life. It is rightly said that a
happy family earn a good name for its seven generations- three generations gone by,
one of itself and three to come. A wise step appears to be so pleasurable.
Religiosity prevails in a family where prevails love and affection. The family remains
content all along and all its purposes are fulfilled.

Answer the following questions:

1. Should matching of horoscopes be done by call names of the boy and the girl? If
not, why?
2. Can a couple have a happy conjugal life by horoscope matching only?
3. What all defect can be there in a horoscope matching?
4. Is it possible for all to match horoscopes?

Horoscope Matching

Chapter-2

What is Matching?
Analysis of similarity between the natures, mental dispositions and tastes or likings &
dislikings of prospective husband and wife on the basis of planetary position and
constellations matching by their horoscopes is called matching of horoscopes. The
prospective husband and wife having similar mental disposition and liking & disliking
get attracted to each other and they appear to be of the same mentality as milk mixes
up with water. The water gets itself sacrificed to save the milk from being burnt while
put on fire. The milk boils over seeing the water burning. Then to pacify the boiling milk
the water is sprinkled over it and then again both mix up. This way the prospective
husband and wife become supplement of each other. They remain always ready to
sacrifice for each other. They lead a happy and prosperous conjugal life.
Matching of horoscopes has been classified into three types:
1. Matching of Yogas
2. Matching of planets and
3. Matching of stars
1. Matching of Yoga : Horoscope is the reflection of past, present and future life.
The Yogas in the horoscope indicate the present and future of the native. If the
Yogas in the horoscope indicate long life, mental stability, prosperity and good
health then only the native is compatible to get married. Therefore before matching
the two horoscopes, one should examine the horoscope as an individual only.
2. Matching of planets: In this process, inauspiciousness of malefic planets and
Dasha, Antardasha of Marak & Badhak planet is analysed. It is advised to look
into the malefic influence or inauspiciousness of planets and Dasha and Antardasha
of Marak and Badhak planets in the horoscope of the boy more deeply than that of
the girl. This should be analysed before matching of Gunas.
3. Matching of stars: Matching of stars is done after matching of planets. In this
process, natures, mental disposition, tastes or likings, conjugal life, progeny, fortune
or fate etc. of the prospective husband and wife are analysed by the stars.
Some astrologers do not look into the matching of planets. But today it has become
essential to study the Dosha Samya, Dasha Sandhi and longevity along with matching
of planets. Dosha Samya, Dasha Sandhi and longevity should also be studied before
matching of stars. In this book, we shall make a study of stars only.
In the process of matching of stars or constellations, following eight points are studied mainly.
1. Varna, 2. Vashya, 3. Tara, 4. Yoni, 5. Matching of Rasi lords, 6. Gana, 7. Bhakoot,
and8. Nadi.
4

Horoscope Matching

The combination of all the 8 points is also called Ashtakuta. Every Kuta has been
given some certain marks as mentioned below. This is also called Gana.

Now the question is why one and eight Gunas have been given to Varna and Nadi
respectively? We do not know its significance but it has been mentioned in the
scriptures. Th~ prospective husband and wife should get 21 Kutas out of 36 if there is
no similarity in their Ganas, Bhakoots and Nadis. Nadi symbolises the health of the
natives. It is said that if health is gone every thing is gone. This is why; it has been
given marks ahead of all. Bhakoot shows the natures of the two and their likings and
attraction towards each other. So, this has been given 7 marks. Yoni denotes the
natures of the natives. This shows which class of nature they belong to- Sa tva, Rajas
or Tamas. Matching of all these three Gunas is essential. Health i.e. Nadi is the most
important, second is Bhakuta that denotes the tastes or likings and mentality of the
two and the last is their nature. All the three will be analysed elaborately later on.
People in north India follow Ashtakuta. In south, ten Kutas are studied whereas the rest
consider eighteen Kutas. But Ashtakuta matching is well sufficient and by this the
similarity in the two families, similarity between the prospective husband and wife,
there mental health, Dosha Samya and Dasha Sandhi along with their longevity can
be calculated. Then there is no limit.
At least Graha Dosha samya, Parivarika Samya, similarity between the two, Dasha
Samya, mental health and longevity are essential to be analysed.

Answer the following questions :

1. What all points should be analysed other than Ashtakuta?
2. Matching of how many Kutas are there in practice in north India?
3. Matching of how many Kutas are there in practice in south India?
4. Write down the names of the Kutas mentioned in Ashtakuta. Also write the marks
provided to them.
5. Explain why 8 marks have been provided to Nadi Dosha.

Varna Matching
Max. Marks-1

Signs of the prospective husband and wife should be determined by their birth stars.
In Astrology, signs have been classified in four Varnas- 1. Brahmin, 2. Kshatriya, 3.
Vaishya, 4. Shoodra. It is determined on the basis of Janma sign. Brahmin is one who
is born in the sign of Cancers, Scorpio or Pisces. Other Varnas are also determined
by the same way. A table in this regard is given below. Brahmin shows the company of
the native with the others. Kshatriya signifies power, Vaishya its self-interest and
Shoodra shows the meekness of the natives. Varna denotes the behaviour of the
natives.

Thus the merits (Gunas) of the prospective husband and wife are analysed after
determining their Varnas. 1 mark is given as Gunanka if the Varna of the boy is higher
than that of the girl. Some astrologers give 1/2 mark if the Varnas of the two are the
same. But 1 mark is prescribed for easy-going. In case, the Varna of the girl is higher
than that of the boy then 0 mark is given. This is because the Varnas of the two denote
their behaviour. Behaviour of the boy should be better than that of the girl because the
girl acts according to the boy. If the behaviour of the boy is good then it will be easy for
him to have control over the girl so that she might pay respect to the elders and love to
the youngers in the family. This is like that of Vitta Samya. Vitta Samy tells of the real
position and Varna shows the physical ability. Physical ability was important for the
combined family in the olden days. Today it is Vitta Samya that counts.

the boy is Kshatriya. In the horoscope of the girl, the Moon is situated in Taurus, so her
Varna is Vaishya. The Varna of the boy is higher than that of the girl, so he got 1 mark.

Answer the following question :

1. How is the matching of Varnas done?

2. Explain as to whose Varna should be higher.
3. What does the Varna show?

Vashya Matching
Max. Marks- 2
Desha
We try to find out the natures of the prospective husband and wife with Vashya. In
ancient time the man used to live with the animals. He knew their nature very well. So,
in Astrology the nature of the man has been explained by studying the nature of the
animals. The natures of the natives have been categorised in the following manner:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Quadruped (Animal): Pet animal that think of itself.

Biped (Human being): Thinks for the society and others also.
Aquatic (Jalachar): Remains always restless.
Vanachar(Wild): Likes to remain alone and if necessary, becomes ferocious also.
Insect (Keet): Keeps its sentiments concealed and stings whenever necessary.

Aries, Taurus, Leo and the 2nd half of Sagittarius and the first half of Capricorn are
considered to be quadruped signs. Among these the sign of Leo is considered to be
a quadruped sign despite being Vanachar.
Gemini, Virgo, Libra and the first half of Sagittarius and the sign of Aquarius are
considered to be biped signs.
Cancer, Pisces and the latter half of Capricorn is considered to be aquatic signs.
Scorpio is considered to be the sign of insect.
All the five Vashyas mentioned above have been classified in 4 categories:
1. Vashya, 2. Mitra, 3. Shatru and 4. Bhakshya. Barring Scorpio, every of the signs is
the Vashya of Leo since they are under its control. Scorpio is not under the control
of Leo because it lives in a hole or burrow. But the man tames the lion also somehow.
In Astrology, all the animals are considered to be under the control of mankind
excepting lion. Every Vashya has friendship with its own category and enmity with
fatal category. First of all the Vashya of the prospective husband and wife is
determined by Vashya-Bodha Cycle. Then Vashya Bhava, Mitra Bhava, Shatru
Bhava orBhakshya Bhava is provided with marks in Vashya Guna Indicative Table
according to their nature. If there is friendship between the two then 2 marks are
given and if there is enmity then 1 mark is provided. 1 mark is given if one is
Vashya and the other Bhakshya and 0 mark is given if one is Shatru and the other
Bhakshya.

In example cited earlier, the Moon is posited in Leo in the horoscope of the boy, so the
Vanachar is his Vashya. In the horoscope of the girl, the Moon is posited in Taurus,
therefore, quadruped is her Vashya. For Vanachar and Quadruped Kanyakar Gun a.
Example: Two marks are of the Cancer sign of the girl and 1/2 (half) is of the Leo sign
of the boy. The aquatic is the Vashya of girl because her sign is Cancer and the
Vanachar is the Vashya of the boy because his sign is Leo. After furnishing matching
in Vashyaguna Indicative Table, it comes to be one mark. Vashya Guna shows the
nature and taste of liking of the natives. Every native acts according to his/her nature
and taste or liking. His/her behaviour depends on it itself. So, today when the boys and
girls are educated and independent financially, it becomes more important. But our
sages and saints have given it only 2 marks. Changes are required according to time,
space and character. All should be given equal marks. Suppose that all the Gunas are
given 4 marks equally, then it will be easy to draw a table.
Health is of course an important factor. A man of weak health can never enjoy
happiness. Besides, sound mental health is also equally important. A man cannot
have happiness in life if he is not fit mentally. Apart from this, happiness and prosperity
have their own importance in the life of a person. So, all the factors should be given
importance equally. Every Guna should be given equal marks. It is important to see as
to how many Gunas are given. In the changed or changing circumstances, it is not just
to give importance to the marks only. A table for equal marks can be drawn in the
following manner.

Tara Matching
Max. Marks- 3
Tara: There are nine kinds of Taras.
1.Janma, 2. Sampat, 3. Vipat, 4. Kshema, 5. Pratyari, 6. Sadhka, 7. Vadha, 8. Mitra,
9. Ati Mitra. The names and results are considered to be equal. Among these 3rd, 5th
and 7th i.e. Vipata, Pratyari and Vadha Taras are considered to be inauspicious
because they give inauspicious results.
In matching, our sages and saints have given maximum 3 marks to the Tara. It is
advised to make a calculation of the horoscopes of both the boy and the girl from birth
stars. Divide the sum total thus obtained by nine. The remainder denotes that particular
Tara. Thus the Taras of the boy and the girl should be determined. The Taras of both
will be given 3 marks ifthey are auspicious. If they are inauspicious i.e. 3rd, 5th and
7th (Vipat, Pratyari and Vadha) then they will be given zero mark. 1.5 mark will be
given if one is auspicious and the other inauspicious.

In example horoscope the constellations of the boy is U .Fal. (12) and of the girl it is
Rohini (4). Now if we count from Uttara Falguni (12), the birth star of the boy to that of
the girl, which is Rohini (4), we will get 20. Further if we divide 20 by 9, we get 2 as
remainder, which shows that the Tara is auspicious.

Likewise, if we calculate from Rohini, the birth star of the girl to that of the boy, which is
Uttara Falguni, it comes to be 9. Further if we divide it by 9, we get 0 i.e. 9 as remainder
which is auspicious. Thus maximum marks were given because both the Taras are
auspicious.
Matchng ofTara is also called matching of Deena Kuta in South India. But in south,
Paryaya is also important. All the 27 constellations are divided into three parts and
there are nine constellations in each one. First part is called Paryaya, second Anu

Maharshi Kashyap has prescribed a table for the Vadha Tara mentioned above. In it,
we find that the combinations of twelve Naskhatras are auspicious that are not
considered to be affected by Vadha Tara. These are given below.

According to Maharshi Kashyap, if the constellation of the girl is Bharani and that of
the boy it is Pushya then both the constellations will be on Vadha Tara from each other
whereas according to the table the result of this matching is "Saubhagya". Therefore,
the Matching of Tara is auspicious. Thus, all the twelve are auspicious. Vadha Tara is
nota Dosha.
Exception rule 4

Vipat (3) and Pratyari (5) are not malefic for the Hasta and three Uttaras (Uttara Falguni,
Uttarasharha and Uttar Bhadra). Suppose that the birth star Swati is 3rd or Anuradha
is 5th constellation from that of the girl. So, their marriage will be auspicious and there
will be no Tara Dosha.
Exception rule 5:

There will be no Tara Dosha if the Janma Nakshatra of the boy or the girl is (1)
Mrigashira, (2) Magha, (3) Swati or (4) Anuradha.
In Tara Dosha, these 5 exception's should be kept in view.
14

Horoscope Matching

3. 2: One constellation
Exception rule 6
There are some special rules for matching of the horoscopes of the boy and the girl if
the constellation of the two is the same. 8 of the 27 constellations are considered to be
inauspicious. These are (1) Bharani, (2) Ashlesha, (3) Swati, (4) Jyeshtha, (5) Moola,
(6) Dhanishtha, (7) Shatbhisha (8) PooNa Bhadra.
The marriage of the boy and the girl is not considered to be suitable if their constellation
is one and is one among the eight mentioned above.
The marriage of the two is considered to be suitable if they have the one and the same
constellation among the other 19 constellations.
The matching of the horoscopes of the prospective husband and wife happens to be
auspicious from marriage point of view if they both have Rohini, (2) Ardra, (3) Magha,
(4) Hasta, (5) Vishakha, (6) Shrawana, (7) Uttara Bhadra or (8) Rewati. The rest eleven
constellations give mixed result.
Exception rule 7 (If all the four Padas are in one sign):
The Pada of the constellation of the boy should be before that of the girl if their
constellation is the one and the same. Suppose that Rohini is the constellation of the
two. In this case the Pada of Rohini constellation of the boy should be the second and
that of the girl it should be the 3rd or 4th- not the first or the second. So, the constellation
Pad a of the boy should not be put after that of the girl.
Exception rule 8 (When one Pada is in one sign and the rest three are in any
other sign.)
The term or Pada of both the boy and the girl should not be the same if their constellation
is one and the same.
Exception rule 9 (When three Padas are in one sign and the other one is in
any other sign)
Some constellations get divided into two signs. For example, the Pad of Krittika is in
Aries, whereas the 2nd, 3rd and 4th are in Taurus. So, the other constellations also get
divided into two signs. For example, three Padas of PunaNasu, Vishakha and PooNa
Bhadra fall in one sign and the next one in the other. Thus one Pad a of Krittika, Uttar
Falguni and Uttarasharha falls in one sign and all the other three Padas fall in the other
one. The constellations of the Sun and Jupiter are divided this way.
So, in this situation, the sign of the boy should be one in which there are three Padas.
Horoscope Matching

15

The details in this regard are given below.

1. Krittika constellation: The sign of the girl should be Aries whereas Taurus of the

boy.

2. U. Falg: Leo of the girl and Virgo of the boy.

3. U. Asharha: Sagittarius of the girl and Virgo of the boy.
4. Punarvasu: Gemini of the boy and Cancer of the girl.
5. Vishakha: Libra of the boy and Scorpio of the girl.
6. Poorva Bhadra: Aquarius of the boy and Pisces of the girl.

Exception rule 10 (when two Padas are in one sign):

The two Padas some of the constellations happen to be in one sign and the other two
in the other one. For example, Mars has Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishtha
constellation. Therefore, the sign of the boy should be the first whereas of the girl it
should be the other. Thus, in Mrigashira, Taurus should be the sign of the boy and
Gemini should be of that of the girl, in Chitra, the sign of the boy should be Virgo and
thatrof the girl it should be Libra, and in Dhanishtha, Capriconn should be the sign of
the boy whereas Aquarius should be that of the girl.

Exception rule 11
According to this rule, the constellations of the boy should not be the 27th from that of
the girl if the sign of the two are different. But the constellation of Rewati is an exception
that is 27th from Ashwini. So, the Rewati constellation of the boy may be the 27th
constellation from that of the girl.
But for the 27th constellation from the other ones, the exception is as under:
If the sign of the two is one and the same, then matching of constellations can be
made. Suppose that the birth star of the girl is Bharani and of the boy it is Ashwini, the
27th. So, the matching of the two is correct, because sign of the both is the same. In
spite of this, matching of the two is not possible, if their constellations are in the following
manner:
a. Bharani of the boy and Krittika of the girl.
b. Pushya of boy and Ashlesha of girl
c. Dhanishtha of boy and Shatbhisha of girl.
Matching of the horoscopes of the two having constellation in the manner mentioned
above is not possible though their sign is one and the same.
16

Horoscope Matching

Exception rule 12
Some special rules have been mentioned for some special constellations. They are
as follows:
(i) The girl is not auspicious for herfather-in-low, if her birth star is Moola
(ii) The girl is not auspicious for her mother-in-low, if her birth star is Ashlesha.
(iii) The girl is not auspicious for the elder brother of the boy, if her birth star is Jyeshtha.
(iv)The girl is not auspicious for the younger brother of the boy, if her birth star is
Vishakha.
According to some other scholars, the first Pada of Moola constellation is inauspicious
whereas the 2nd, 3rd and 4th are auspicious.
According to yet some other scholars, the first Pada of Moola is inauspicious for the
father-in-law of the girl, second for her mother in-law and the third one is inauspicious
for wealth. But the fourth Pada is auspicious. But then it is for sure that the girl being in
the first Pada of Moola is not auspicious for her father-in-law.
Ashlesha constellations: The girl, whose birth star is in the first Pada of Ashlesha, is
not auspicious for the mother of the boy.
Vishakha constellations: The girl born in the fourth Pada of Vishakha is not auspicious
for the younger brother of the boy.
Jyeshtha constellation: The girl is not auspicious for the elder brother of the boy if her
birth star is Jyeshtha.
Thus we see that this rule is applied on the girl only and not on the birth star of the boy.
However, some scholars apply it on both the boy and the girl. Death is not considered
in the case of the girl (daughter-in-law).
If death of the father of the boy occurs, it is due to his Yogas, fatal (Marak) planets and
influence of Period-sub-period and Gochar, and not due to the birth star of the daughterin-law. It is quite unjust to blame birth star of the girl or the boy.
The family is like the passengers sailing in a boat. Every passenger will have to bear
the brunt of whatever happens untoward with the boat. The death of the father means
that the mother too has the Vaidhavya Yoga in her Period-sub-period. In the Periodsub-period of the boy too there must be the Mrityu Yoga of his father. Likewise, there
must be some malefic Yogas in the Period-sub-period of others in the family. So, it is
quite unjust to blame the girl only who comes from a strange family. Yet, it is possible
that the Period-sub-period of the girl compelled her to sail in the boat in which there
was something ominous to occur.
There is a difficulty in matching the constellations of one Tara, and that is because they
Horoscope Matching

17

have only one Nadi that denotes health. In this situation, the boy and the girl having one
and the same constellation may suffer from ill health.

Matching of Tara in brief:

1. In south India, only the numbers of constellation from the birth star are counted. But
in North the numbers are counted from the birth stars of both the boy and the girl.

2. Matching of 3rd, 5th and 7th Taras is not advised in Janma Paryay.
3. Matching of the first Pada of third Tara, fourth of fifth and third of seventh is not
advised in Anujanma Paryaya. Paryay is not in practice in North India.
4. There is no Tara fault in Trijanma Paryaya. The 3rd, 5th and 7th Taras are considered
to be inauspicious in North India.
5. No fault of 3rd and 5th Taras is considered in Hasta, Uttara Falguni, Uttarasharha
and Uttara Bhadra.
6. No Tara fault is considered in Mrigashira, Magha, Swati and Anuradha.
7. Fault of Vadha Tara and 7th Tara (See Tara Dosha Table) is not considered in a
particular constellation.
8. All the 12 exception rules should be kept in mind.
9. Both the boy and the girl may have health problem if their birth star is one and the
same. So, their Ascendant and its lord have to be strong, essentially.

Yoni Matching

Max. Marks - 4

Yoni tells of the mental disposition, taste or liking and nature of the native. It denotes
his/her behaviour, conduct and thinking. Therefore some scholars analyse the
partnership, owner, servants etc. of the native on the basis of his/her Yoni.
There are 14 types of Yoni. Every constellation has been given Yoni different from the
other ones. Abhijit constellation has also been included in the constellations in Yoni
Kuta Vichara. Thus all the 28 constellations have been given their Yoni different from
the others. The names of the Yoni are: (1)Ashwa, (2) Gaj, (3) Mesha, (4) Sarpa, (5)
Shwan, (6) Marjara, (7) Mooshaka (8) Gau, (9) Mahisha, (10) Vyaghra, (11) Mriga,
(11) Vanar (13) Nakul, (14) Simha.
Yoni is assessed on the basis of the birth star of the native, which can be found in Yoni
Indicative Table. In ancient times, the mankind was nearer to the Nature. So, he had
the knowledge of the nature of birds and animals. It was, therefore, natural for him to
see animal instinct in the man. He found that the sense of enmity in a man was equal to
that in an animal. lfthe Yon is of the boy and the girl are similar, then it is natural for both
to get attracted towards each other. So, 4 marks have been fixed for the Yoni. Friendship
between the two is given 3 marks, the equality between them is given 2 and 1 mark is
fixed for what is common in them. 0 mark is given to the enmity between the boy and
the girl.

Animals that live together and eat together the same thing are friends. Animals
living together but having no relations with each other are even (sam). But those,
who fight with each other are enemies. So, enmity between the two is not desirable
for the marriage and hence it is given 0 mark.
To some scholars Yoni is sex, which is not just. lfYoni means amorous sport (Kama
Kreeda), there is no meaning of friendship. Yoni reflects the natures of the boy and the
girl.
In example horoscopes of the boy and the girl, their birth stars are Uttar Falguni and
Rohini respectively. Gau is the Yoni of Uttar Falguni whereas Sarpa is of Rohini. Now,
if we analyze matching of Yonis of both the boy and the girl in the table, we will see that
each of them has got 1 mark, which is very low. This is why there is a difference between
their thinking and personalities. Today, similarity in thinking of the two is considered
much and has got much importance for a happy married life.

Chapter-7

Matching of Rasi lords

Max. Marks- 5
In Yoni Kuta, the nature of the native is analysed on the basis of the constellations.
Peace or dispute in the family depends on the nature of the native. That was why our
sages liked to consider Yoni Kuta by the Moon. Likewise, matching of Rasi lords also
depends on the nature of the native. The sign, in which the Moon happens to be posited
at the time of birth, and its lord denote the nature of the native. Moon represents the
mind. Mental disposition and the nature of the native depend on the sign in his/her
horoscope in which the Moon is posited. There are two types of signs: even and odd.
Even signs are gentle (Saumya) whereas old are cruel ones. Nature of the sign depends
on that of their lords also. For instance, Aries has the influence of Mars also. So, it is
courageous also despite being cruel. This is why, the native in this situation of Aries
happens to be cruel and courageous.
Enmity or friendship between the two unknown persons is determined by the enmity or
friendship between the lords of the signs in their horoscopes in which the Moon is
posited.
This is why the matching of Rasi lords (friendship between the planets) is important in
matching of horoscopes of the boy and the girl. Gana Dosha, Bhakuta Dosha and
other sundry Doshas lose their importance, if there is friendship between the signs of
both the boy and the girl. Gana Dosha and Bhakuta Dosha can be removed by matching
of Rasi lords. So, according to the Acharyas, matching of Rasi lords (friendship between
the lords of the signs) is the most important aspect in horoscope matching.

The Sun with the other 6 planets have been mentioned in this cycle or Table because
_ they are the lords of signs. For Rahu and Ketu, other scriptures or books are advised.
While analysing the matching of Rasi lords, first of all the signs and their lords of both
the boy and the girl should be studied. After that it is advised to see whether they are
friends or enemies or they are equal or even. For this, Maitri Graha Indicative Table is
advised to see.
There are three types of relationship among the planets. Some planets are friends of
each other; some are enemies and some are even or neutral. The relationship of the
planets can be seen in matching of Rasi lords Table.
Relation between the lords pf signs of the boy and the girl is shown as under.
1. Friends, 2. One even and the other friend, 3. One friend and the other enemy,
4. Both even, 5. One even and the other enemy, 6. Both enemies,

In the changed and changing circumstances of the day, natural matching of Rasi lords
and Yoni have become much important, keeping in view the space, time and character.
Both the boy and the girl are independent, educated and financially self dependent.
So, this has to be seen whether there is similarity between their nature and personality.
If it is not so, there might be disputes in the family or they may even go for divorce.
In example horoscopes, the sun is the lord of the sign of the boy whereas venus is that
of the girl. Both are enemies of each other and hence 0 mark has been given.
Note: Some learned scholars consider Jupiter to be the friend of the Moon and not
even as shown in the table.
2. Venus is considered to be the friend of Mars.
3. All the planets are the friends of Mercury excepting Moon, which is its enemy.
4. Saturn is considered to be the friend of Jupiter.
5. Sun and Jupiter are neutral to Saturn (neither friends nor enemies). The Moon is its

enemy.

6. Matching of Rasi lords is considered to be correct even in case the lords of the
signs of the horoscopes are not "friends but if there is friendship between the
Navamshesha (in Navamsha horoscope) and the lord of the sign the Moon is posited
in.
As mentioned in Garga Samhita, all the planets have two signs excepting the Sun and
the Moon. If the planet in one sign is exalted, the second one also happens to be the
friendly sign of that planet. For instance, if the Sun is exalted in Aries of which Mars is
the lord, then Scorpio, the other sign of Mars will also be the friends of the Sun. Similarly,
Horoscope Matching

25

the Moon happens to be exalted in Taurus. So Libra, the second sign of Venus is also
a friendly sign.
Venus happens to be exalted in Pisces. Therefore, Sagittarius, the second sign of
Jupiter is also the friendly sign of Venus. So, an analysis of friendship and enmity of
the planets is essential and important.

Acharyas have mentioned that there are three qualities of nature : Satwa (quality of
purity and goodness), Rajas (luxuriousness, merry-making and exhibitionism) and
Tamas (quality of darkness or ignorance). All these three qualities are found in the
mankind in the form of- 1. Deva, 2. Manushya and 3. Rakshasa.
Acharyas have further distributed these three qualities among the constellation also in
the following manner:

again, if the boy is with Rakshasa Gana and the girl is with Manushya Gana.

Marriage proves to be auspicious, if the sign of both the boy and the girl is one and the
same and this Bhakuta passifies all the inauspiciousness in their horoscopes. But
marriage is not advisable if the constellation is one and the same. (See the Matching
of Tara in Chapter-5).
Results of situation of the sign of boy with that of the girl are as follows:

The married life of both the girl and the boy will be excellent if the sign of both is one
and the same.
Death is possible if the sign of the girl is second from that of the boy.
Distress and agony are feared in case the sign of the girl is third from that of the
boy. Both will have to face destitution and poverty, if it is fourth.
The girl will become widow, if her sign is fifth from that of the boy.
Death of children is possible in case it is sixth.
Prosperity and longevity are possible if it is seventh.
Children in a great number are expected if it is eighth.
If ninth, they will enjoy a long life.
Gain of wealth is possible if it is tenth.
Both will enjoy prosperity, if the sign of the girl is eleventh.
Long life is expected, if it is twelfth from that of the boy.
Rules:

1. Bhakuta Matching proves to be excellent, if the sign of the boy is seventh from that
of the girl or is ahead of the seventh sign. But it should not be less than the seventh.
For instance, Bhakuta proves to be excellent, if the signs of the girl and the boy are
Aries and Libra respectively.
Likewise, it happens to be auspicious if the sign of the boy is Sagittarius, i.e. ahead of
the seventh sign.
Bhakuta Matching proves to be inauspicious, if the sign of the girl is Aries and Virgo
is of the boy because it is less than the seventh.
2. Dwi Dwadasha Bhakuta Dosha: It is 2/12 situation if the sign of the boy is second
from that of the girl and hence the Bhakuta is inauspicious which causes destitution
and poverty.
Rectification/Exception:

Dwi Dwadasha Bhakuta comes to its end if sign of the boy is even and of the girl it is
odd. For instance, the signs of the two come to be 2/12 (Dwi Dwadasha) if the sign of
the boy is Taurus and Gemini is of the girl. So, in this case Bhakuta Dosha gets pacified
since the sign of the boy is even and of the girl it is odd.

Horoscope Matching

Combination of the signs of both the girl, as shown below, gives auspicious results:
Pisces-Aries, Taurus-Gemini
Cancer-Leo, Virgo-Libra,
Scorpio - Sagittarius and Capricorn - Aquarius
But the combination given below, gives inauspicious results:
Aries-Pisces, Gemini-Taurus etc
3. Fifth-ninth Bhakuta (Pancham-Navam Bhakuta) Dosha. The situation of the signs
of both comes to be 5/9 if the sign of the boy is fifth from that of the girl. This
situation causes widowness. So, the Bhakuta is unfavourable.
Rectification/Exception:

Bhakuta is considered to be rectified if the sign of the boy is fifth from that of the girl.

Matching of the horoscopes of both the boy and the girl can be done if the sign of
the boy is Aries and Leo is of the girl even if the situation of the two is 5/9.
Matching is advisable if the sign of the boy is Cancer and Scorpio is of the girl,
though the situation is 5/9. This Matching is prescribed only for these two signs.
The following combinations of the signs are not advisablee. Pisces-Cancer, ScorpioCancer, Aquarius-Gemini and Capricorn-Virgo.
Combinations of the signs as shown below are advisable: Aries-Leo, Taurus-Virgo,
Gemini-Libra, Cancer-Scorpio, Leo-Sagittarius, Libra-Aquarius, Scorpio-Pisces,
Sagittarius-Aries and Capricorn-Taurus.
Moon as the lord of the sign and Navamsha is advisable.

Sixth-Eighth Bhakuta Dosha :The situation comes to be 6/8 if the sign of the boy is
sixth tram that of the girl. For instance, the situation comes to be 6/8 in case the sign of
the girl is Aries and Virgo is of the boy. This Bhakuta is inauspicious and can cause
death.
Rectification/Exception:

a. Aries-Scorpio, Taurus-Libra, Gemini-Capricorn, Cancer-Sagittarius, Leo-Pisces

and Virgo-Aquarius. These are friends and their Shadashtaka is advisable. But
Shadashtaka being enemy is not advisable.
b. Matching of signs of both the boy and the girl is desirable if the Janma sign of the
girl is odd and of the boy it is even and sixth. For instance, Bhakuta is advisable if
the Janma sign of the girl is Aries and of the boy it is Virgo and sixth. Bhakuta is
correct since Virgo is an even sign.
c. Tara is also advisable if it is auspicious.
Second Twelfth, ninth-fifth and sixth-eighth are considered to be inauspicious and so
unadvisable. Bhakuta comes to its end if the lord of the signs of both the boy and the
girl happens to be one and the same. Here, there appear to be three types of relation:

Horoscope Matching

31

1. If the lord of the signs of the two is one and the same.
2. If the lords of the signs are friends.
3. If the lords of the signs are first and seventh. For instance, if Taurus is the sign of
the girl and Libra of the boy and the lord of both the signs is Venus and the situation
is 6/8. In spite of all this the matching of the horoscopes is auspicious.
Take one more example. The Janma sign of the girl is Cancer and Sagittarius is of the
boy. The situation of both is 6/8. But the Moon being the lord of Cancer and Jupiter of
Sagittarius are friends. So, the Dosha of 6/8 Bhakuta gets rectified.

Likewise, 6/8 Bhakuta Dosha meets its end in the combination of the signs as given below:

~Y.

Aquarius
Scorpio
Gemini
Leo

Girl

Virgo
Aries
Capricorn
Pisces

The girl proves to be auspicious for her parents and in-laws if the lord of seventh
house is posited in seventh house, lord of fifth house in fifth and Jupiter and Venus are
posited either in angle or trine and are aspected by benefic planets.
Shadashtaka Bhakuta Dosha is a Mahadosha because sixth house is of enmity and
the eighth of death. Disputes, enmity, difference of opinion are possible in the life of
both of the boy and the girl if their signs are in sixth or eighth house. It has been noticed
that the sign posited in sixth or eighth house instigates the native to commit suicide or
murder. This is why the Shadashtaka Dosha is considered to be Mahadosha. This
Dosha should always be avoided.

Sankalpa, Vikalp and Action are the natural acts of mind. Astrologers have mentioned
three Nadis by which these acts can be studied.
These are: 1 .Adi, 2.Madhya and 3.Ant.
This is something like Vaidyas (Ayurvedic doctors) have mentioned Vat, Pitta and
Cough to know the diseases a living being suffers from. Different Nadis have been
fixed for different constellation.

considered to be auspicious if Nadi of both the boy and the girl is one and the same.
It is for them auspicious to have separate Nadis. 8 marks have been fixed for matching

Nadi Dosha consideration is thought to be important in most of the parts of India.

Marriage is prohibited if there is Nadi Dosha in the horoscopes of both the boy and
the girl. So, the Nadi Dosha should be analysed seriously and carefully.
Nadi Dosha is related with the physical and mental health of the boy and the girl.
Parents will not like to get their daughter married with a boy who is bed-ridden even if
he is learned, educated and rich. Health is the base of life. This is why our Acharyas
have given 8 marks to Nadi matching. Health is the base of family-life too. Marriage
has got no meaning if the boy is unmanly. Likewise, if the girl is deprived of menstruation,
she can not give birth to a baby. This situation causes demolition of the family. If there
is Nadi Dosha in the horoscopes of the two, they suffer from mental diseases also.
Babies born to the natives having this Dosha do not develop. So, they have to lead a
miserable married life.
Rectification/Exception of Nadi Dosha:

1. This is certain that the Nadi of the two will be one and the same if they have one
and the only constellation. It appears that this is the Nadi Dosha. But if the terms or
Padas of the constellations they possess are different, the Nadi Dosha gets
pacified. (See one constellation of Matching of Tara in Chapter 5).
2. (a) It appears to be Nadi Dosha if their Nadi is one and the same, though they
were born in different constellation. The lord of the sign will be one if the sign of
the two is one and the same. So, the lord, being one, pacifies the Nadi Dosha.
(b) If the signs of the two are different but the lord of the signs is one and the same,
the Nadi Dosha gets pacified.
For example: Constellation of one is Uttarasharha and of the other it is Rewati.
But Jupiter is the lord of both signs. Sagittarius and Pisces are the signs. Nadi
is one and only and that is Ant, but there is no Nadi Dosha since the lord of the
two is one and the same.
(See rectification of one planet Bhakuta Dosha 6/8 in Chapter 9).
(c) Nadi Dosha may be auspicious if the constellations of the boy and the girl is
one among Krittika, Rohini, Mrigashira, Ardra, Pushya, Jyeshtha, Shrawana,
Uttara Bhadra and Rewati.
(d) Nadi Dosha is acceptable if Mercury, Jupiter or Venus is the lord of signs of the
two.

(e) Nadi Dosha can be acceptable by reciting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and giving
something in charity.

Chapter-11

Mars and Obstacles in Marriage

Hindu society always remains disturbed owing to Mangala Dosha in horoscope particularly in the horoscope of a girl. Mangala Dosha in the horoscope of a girl causes
many types of disturbances such as problem of remarriage and dependence financially
on a male member. We know it very well.
Mars is a planet that renders power, zeal and valour. A person becomes inactive and
disheartened if it is weak for him. It is unjust to blame a planet like it. A woman cannot
have periods (Masika Dharma) if it does not shower its benefic influence on her. It is
difficult to give birth to a baby ifthere is irregularity in the periods (Masik Dharma) of
a woman. How can a planet be faulty? This is perhaps because Mars is a Tamasika
planet. It enhances fire of passion in a person and he becomes amorous. Secondly,
Mars symbolises accident also. It can cause death if it becomes Maraka. Not only
Mars but Jupiter also may cause death in its Dosha Bhukti if it is Maraka. So,
auspiciousness and inauspiciousness depend on Lagna (Ascendant).
The following things are essential for a happy married life:
1. The couple should be healthy and free from diseases.
2. They should have faith in each other. Besides, they should have understanding,
tolerance and capability to fulfil physical needs.
3. They should have capability to fulfil social requirements such as house, vehicles,
clothes, education of children etc.
4. They should possess wealth and honour in society.
5. Above all, longevity of the two matters the most.
Our Acharyas have considered tolerance to be the most important. It is essential
particularly for the girl to have tolerance. The boy happens to be violent by his nature.
If the girl becomes violent, it becomes hard for the family to run. This is why our sages
and saints have mentioned that the women should not be violent. Today, small unit or
family consists of husband, wife and their children. It is difficult to run the family if the
couple- particularly the wife doesn't have tolerance. The life of the family becomes
miserable if any of the two dies earlier. In both the cases the children are affected. So,
tolerance and longevity are the most essential aspects of a happy family. Mars is the
symbol of wrathfulness i.e. lack of tolerance.
The following combinations are essential for a happy family life:
36

Horoscope Matching

1. Lords of second and seventh houses should be strong along with Jupiter, Moon
and Venus.
2. There should be benefic planets in second and seventh houses and the houses
should be aspected by the benefic ones. The lords of second and seventh houses
should be posited in Param Mitra and Mitra signs in Vargas also.
3. Benefic planets should be posited there in sixth and eighth or Lagna and seventh
houses.
4. There should be strong benefic planets posited in Lagna and Seventh houses.
5. Lord of seventh house should be posited in fourth or tenth house in a benefic sign
and aspected by benefic planets.
6. In Navamsha Horoscope, seventh house should be in the sign of a benefic planet,
being conjoined with or aspected by a benefic planet.
7. Lords of fifth and ninth houses should be posited in a benefic house from Moon
and Lagna or seventh house.
8. Lord or lords of the signs of Venus and seventh house should be strong and posited
in a benefic house.
9. All the planets give results according to their constellations. So, the lord of
constellations should be posited there in benefic houses.
10. Planets give results according to the signs in which they are posited in Navamsha.
So, Venus and lord of seventh house should be strong and posited in a benefic
house in Navamsha horoscope.
11 . One should also take note of Badhak planet.
So, for a happy married life, lord of seventh house and Venus should essentially be
benefic and strong in sign and Navamsha horoscope. The lords of the constellations
of both the boy and the girl and the lords of their signs should also be benefic and
strong.
So, it is clear that Mars or any other planet can not cast its inauspicious influence on
the family if the seventh house, lord of seventh house and Karak Venus and Moon,
Lagna or the lords of their constellations and Navamshas are benefic and strong in
spite of being situated in a sensitive house. From family point of view 12th, 1 st, 2nd,
4th, 7th and 8th houses, from Lagna and Moon are sensitive. Mars or any other malefic
planet lessens the bliss of family life if it is posited in any of these houses. Our Acharyas
have written very much in this regard, still then I would like to mention some combinations
that cause dispute in the family.
Five planets Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and Sun being posited in these houses affect
the conjugal life of the natives.

19. Venus, posited in a moveable sign in Chara Navamsha, tells of unstability in married
life. This is particularly in the case of first marriage.
20. Venus or the lord of seventh house, being retrograde, posited with some other
retrograde planet
21 . Afixed sign in Lagna and Jupiter posited in seventh house.
22. A common (Dwiswabhava) sign posited in Lagna and a retrograde Jupiter in
seventh house.
23. Lord of sixth posited in 2nd or 7th house or conjoined with or aspected by Jupiter
or Venus.
24. Venus and Rahu conjoined with each other in fourth house.
25. Sun and lord of seventh house conjoined being posited in third house.
26. Sun or Saturn posited in its debilitated sign in the horoscope of the native having
Leo or Aquarius as Lagna.
27. A retrograde Mars posited in fourth house from Venus.
28. Venus posited in Sagittarius in the horoscope of the husband and in Gemini in the
horoscope of wife ruins their married life.
29. Venus or Moon posited in twelfth house with Rahu or Ketu.
30. It has been noticed that Mercury posited in eighth house in the horoscope of the
wife causes death to her husband.
Apart from these combinations, there are many more. In short, Mars and other malefic
planets situated in sensitive houses may spoil happiness of married life. It is advised
to analyse seriously the seventh house, lord of seventh house and the position of Venus.
Influences on seventh house, lord of seventh house and Venus have got great
importance.
Today, Ashta Kuta matching has lost its importance to some extent Today a native is
considered to be fit for marriage if he is 20 or 22 years old. He/She happens to be
educated and wise. He/She likes to marry a boy/girl of his/her choice and at his/her
own will. Caste, community and other aspects of this type are no more significant
now. In these circumstances, how can we hope of a happy family life?
Horoscope Matching

Our sages and saints tried to find the solutions of the problems after studying the
different states of society and gave a theory of matching of horoscopes. It can not find
out solutions of all the problems in life, but helps a person lead a happy life. Earlier,
marriage of a native having Mangal Dosha in his horoscope i.e. malefic planets posited
in sensitive houses was advisable with a person of the same case. To make it more
clear, marriage of two natives, having Mangali horoscopes each, was advisable. Similar
theory is used in Homoeopathic system of treatment. Vipareeta Rajayoga is based
on this particular theory. In mathematics, a minus multiplied by a minus makes a plus.
The same theory is used here also. This theory has been practiced much in Astrology.
But it might prove to be auspicious only if the natives act wisely. Today, natives act at
their will, not by their wisdom. This is why today the family life has become disturbed
and restless.
Our sages and saints studied deeply the position of Mars in sensitive houses to make
family life happy and suggested that Mars posited in the houses, as shown below,
does not prove to be inauspicious.
Benefic and Malefic planets pacify the Mangal Dosha in their positions as shown
below:

16. lfthe Moon is posited in angle with a strong planet or Mars and Moon are conjoined

20. For the auspicious influence of Mars, Mars should be in mid-house. Influence of
some other malefic planets is also essential.
Let us now analyse horoscopes of some Mangalik couples:
Lagnas and signs of both the husband and wife are Dwi-Dwadasha (second from
twelfth) from each other. Husband is Mangali. But the signs of the two are friendly.

Husb. 22-4-1941

Wife 23-10-1947

Families of the two are normal since Mars is exalted. Inauspiciousness of Mars has
also reduced because Mars and Saturn are conjoined with and aspected by each
other. In the horoscope of the wife, Jupiter, posited in Lagna, is aspected by Saturn
and Mars, which is also auspicious.
The husband is Mangali because Mars is in eighth house in his horoscope. But it is
aspected by Jupiter. So, they are both happy- leading a happy family life.

Husb. 15-7-1965

Husb. 28-8-1948

Wife 01-05-1954

Both are Mangali. Mars of both of the two is in Rahu. Mars, posited in the eighth house
of the horoscope of husband, is aspected by Saturn. Mars in the horoscope of wife is
also aspected by Saturn. But both are happy. In the horoscope of husband, Mercury is
posited with Saturn and Sun in sixth from Lagna i.e. in twelfth from seventh. But Venus
is posited in a friendly sign in angle. In the horoscope of wife, Mars is aspected by
Jupiter and Venus is posited in trine in Taurus, the sign of its own. Thus, there might be
many more couples who lead a long and happy married life despite having Mangalik
Dosha in their horoscopes. In the horoscope of Dr. B. B. Raman too there was Mangal
in Leo in Seventh house. He was happy and enjoyed a long life. His wife is still alive.
So, we shall have to make a minute study of Mangal Dosha. We shall also have to
follow the rules and remedies mentioned by the sages and saints.
Owing to the limit of space a brief note is given below in this regard:
1. Situation of malefic planets in a sensitive house is considered to be Mangalik
Dosha.
2. So, it is advised to keep in mind the strength and weakness of Venus and the lord
of seventh house.
3. Planets are influential much on midpoint of a house. If on the degrees of beginning
or and, they are less influential.
4. We should use remedies mentioned by our scholars very cautiously.

43

5. In horoscope matching, matching of period-sub-period, Graha Dosha Samya and

matching of age are also important alongwith Ashtekuta matching.
6. An exalted planet glozes the inauspiciousness if it is exalted and posited in its own
or in a friendly sign or in Navamsha or between two benefic planets. But it does not
ward off the inauspiciousness.
7. A malefic planet gives much inauspicious result if it is influenced by a malefic
planet.
8. It is not wise to depend much on the auspicious influence of a benefic planet if it is
retrograde.

Remedies to Widowhood:
The following remedies can be applied as suggested in the scriptures, if there is
Vidhava Yoga in the horoscope of a girl.
1. If the ninth and 12th houses or their lords are strong, they save the girl from being
widow.
2. Vidhava Yoga gets cancelled if Lagna and seventh houses and their lords are
strong and are posited in angle or trine under the influence of a benefic planet.
3. Mangalik Dosha in the horoscope of the boy gets cancelled if Jupiter, Venus, Moon,
Mars and lord of seventh house are posited in trine and 3/11 houses from the
horoscope of the girl. Same is the case with the girl also.
4. Saturn lessens the malefic effect of Mars if it is conjoined with or aspected by
Mars.
5. Saturn saves the natives from being Mangali if it is posited in Lagna or in fourth,
seventh, ninth or twelfth house from Lagna.
6. Mars does not cause any hurdle in conjugal life of a native of Aquarius sign if it
creates Mangali Dosha being posited in a fixed sign. Fixed signs Taurus, Leo and
Aquarius create Mangal Dosha if they are posited in fourth, seventh and Lagna
respectively. Venus posited in angle from Mars makes Mangal Dosha ineffective.
7. Mangal Dosha become ineffective if periods of benefic planets prevail in the
horoscopes of both the boy and girl.
8. If there is period/Bhukti of a fatal or obstructing planet in the horoscope of any of
the two, marriage should be avoided till the period ends.
9. The girl should keep Savitri fast under the able guidance of an astrologer.
10. The girl should repeat reverentially the Shreemangala Chandrika Stotra 7-21 times
a day for 1 08 days.
11. Durga Patha is also advised.
12. There is also a rule of marriage with a Kumbha (a pot of clay), an idol of Vishnu, a
tree of plantain or Peepul orTulasi before getting the girl married with a boy.
Thus we see the Mangalik Dosha causes death to the husband of a girl. Death is not
possible if there is no period-sub-period of fatal and badhak planets in the horoscopes
of the boy and the girl. Amity in family is not possible without tolerance. So, apart from
44
