Should Same Sex Marriage be Legalized?
The marriage is usually defined as the legally union of two people and it is recognized
between them, their laws, their religion, their society and their culture. It is difficult to know
when the marriage started to being practiced, but it is easy to know when it started to being very
popular, because statistics show an increase in the number of marriages since it became one of the
seven sacraments on the twelfth century. The religion, based in the holy bible, says that the
marriage is a sacrament that should be practiced between two opposite sex people in order to
have children and continue the civilization. For this reason, people and laws recognized the
opposite sex marriage as a human right and established the procreation as the first purpose of
matrimony. However, this happened a long time ago, and, as the time goes on, there have been
people that want to get married with somebody from their same sex. Therefore, the society is now
arguing about the legalization of same sex marriage. Actually, same sex marriage is allowed only
in some places of the world, 21 countries to be specific, and most of the people do not agree to
legalize same sex in their countries. Despite of this, I am not against same sex marriage and I
think that it should be legally recognized in all over the world for three reasons. First, I think that
if you want to get married with someone that has the same sex like you, everybody should respect
your decision because every person is free to do whatever they want if it makes them feel happy.
Furthermore, denying some people the option to marry is discriminatory and does not follow the
liberty and equality commitments warranted in the constitution of almost all the countries of the
world. Second, I think that marriage should not be influenced by religious because they are not
going to get married and they are not going to enjoy the benefits of same sex marriage. Moreover,
same sex couples should enjoy the same benefits enjoyed by heterosexual married couples

because everybody is equal in the eyes of the law. Third, I think that, marriage is not only for
procreation, even if this is the purpose of matrimony, because in this way, infertile couples should
not be allowed to get married. Also, there are some couples that dont want to have children and
they get married. Additionally, Gay marriages can bring financial and can help boost the
economy. For all these reasons, I am not against same sex marriage and I think that it should be
legalized in all over the world.
