RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.
Livebinders allows students to combine different documents into a virtual binder. This allows students to
have a depository of all of their past work, as well as links to other important documents and websites,
that relate to the topic at hand. This allows students to have a repository of all of their important
documents for a lesson. This can make studying much easier. It also allows a teacher to track a students
progress along the lesson and can provide a comparison between a formative and summative
assessments.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?
Portfolios are of great use for students and teachers. Students can place their online work onto a binder.
Students can also store rubrics and other pertinent information into those folders. This is significant for
two reasons, first, because having them with other assignments provides context and second,
elementary and middle schoolers tend to be disorganized. In addition, portfolios can also be used by
instructors for evaluating. They can show a students growth over time. This can be used to more
accurately show a students performance.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration
you described, using the selected resource?
Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

Livebinder adheres to the ISTE standards, as it greatly assists in the organization and presentation of
online information from different sources. It also assists students in that it allows teachers to more easily
see and compare student performance over time. The largest issue with livebinder is that it does very
little that a traditional 3 ring bander cannot. Teachers can place student work within a binder or folder.
As a result, I cannot give Livebinder over a 2, because it does not transform the lesson in a way that
would be impossible without it.
