Chhattisgadiya People

People and society in Chhattisgarh is tribal influenced, as one third of the total
population comprises of tribes who have their distinct culture, unique lifestyle,
rituals, customs and traditional beliefs.The major tribes of the state are Gond tribe,
Korba, Baiga Tribe, Bison Horn Maria tribe, Abhuj Maria, Muria tribe, Halba tribe,
Bhatra and Dhurvaa tribes. Gond tribe of Bastar region is the most prominent
group.

Chhattisgadiya Festivals

Bastar Dussehra spans over 75 days starting around August and ending at October. It is thus the
longest Dussehra celebrations in the world. It involves the participation of diverse tribes and castes.
The festival involves rituals of extraordinary rigour like a girl swinging on a bed of thorns; a youth
(jogi) sitting in vigil, buried shoulder-deep, for nine days etc.

Chhattisgadiya Foods

Food of chhattisgarh has carved a niche for itself among the food explorers. The cuisine of
Chhattisgarh serves a wide range of mouth watering dishes and they are enriched with the qualities of
protein, vitamins, minerals and iron. Another specialty of Chattisgarh is that the people of this state consider
their guests as the representative of God They make sure that their guests are served with the best quality
food of the state.

Chhattisgadiya Dance

Popular dance forms of Chhattisgarh are Pandawani,Raut Nacha,Sua Nacha,Panthi,Karma.


These are known as Chhattisgadhi Folk Dance. These all are related to god worship, culture and their
religion.

Chhattisgadiya Dress

The men and women of Chhattisgarh have evolved their traditional clothing and imbibed them with the modern take on
fashionable attire. The Kachhora style sari which was worn originally by the tribal women is now adorned by the younger
generations.

Chhattisgadiya Langugage

Chhattisgarhi is a language spoken in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It is an Eastern Hindi language
with heavy vocabulary and linguistic features from Munda and Dravidian languages.Chhattisgarhi is most
closely related to Bagheli and Awadhi, and these languages are classified in the East Central Zone of the
Indo-Aryan languages, the Indian branch of the Indo-European language family.
