Sharjah Environment Awareness Award (SEAA)

AY 2016-2017

CRITERIA FOR SCHOOL PROJECT


1. Research (5 points)

A full research must be done before working on the project. This research should be included when submitting the
project and should be between 1-3 pages.
2. Increase the environmental knowledge (10 points)

Teachers must conduct presentations and educate the students about the related topic.

Taking the students to the schools library and making sure they read at least 1 environmental book throughout the
school year. 3. Collecting data (10 points)

Grades 3-12: Conducting surveys (inside and outside the school), before starting the project, and once the project is
finished as well, in order to compare and see the difference.

Grades 3-12: The survey must be answered by a minimum of 20 people in order to get accurate results.

Interviewing students and the surrounding community, before starting the project, and once the project is finished as
well.

Creating informative brochures and distributing them inside and outside the school. (The content of the brochure should
be created by either the teachers or the students) 4. Documentation (10 points)

4. Documentation (10 points)

Evidence for all phases of the project should be included. This evidence should cover all phases of the project.
Documentation should be in the form of pictures and videos.The video documentation should be in the form of one
video that includes short clips of the processes carried out, and the entire video should not be more than 15 minutes.

All pictures must be captioned.


5. Delivering the message (10 points)

Awareness sessions should be done inside the school + outside the school (awareness should be provided in a
minimum of 3 different places).

Campaigns and environmental workshops.

Share the projects idea through social networking sites, and you can choose a medium for spreading the message.
(Include the links).

The social media accounts must be active and posting on them must be on a regular basis, even after the submission of
the project.
6. Creativity (10 points)

Creativity is required through all phases of the project. Students are expected to demonstrate creativity whilst
conducting their research, spreading the message and presenting their project.
7. The Projects Influence on the Students, School and Surrounding Community (10 points)

The projects influences on students, school and surrounding community (i.e. malls, supermarkets, institutions,
residential neighborhoods) should be mentioned. The project should exhibit how students can benefit from the project
and what it can add to the students attitude in school.

The project should have a long-term influence on the students through motivating them to produce similar projects with
apparent results in the next academic years.
8. Overall Project (15 points)

Best Environmental play Best Environmental Movie, both should be:


1. Visually appealing
2. Informative
3. Audio and video should be clear

Best Environmental Solution:

If its an invention, it should be in: Upstanding working condition when its presented to the judges
o
If its an idea: The supporting materials (infographics, visuals, reports ...etc.) should be visually appealing
and clear enough to demonstrate how the prototype would work.
9. Students Participation in the Project (10 points)

The main objective of this award is to encourage students to work and create as the only role of the school and
teachers is to provide supervision and assistance if required by students, except for KG Grade 2, where teachers can
be the planners of the project.

The number of participants in each project should be no more than 15 students.


10. Answering Required Questions (Detailed report) (10 points)

All categories should answer the Questions about the Project School Form, which can be found on page 33 and
submit it with their le. Informational booklet can be downloaded from the website: www.seaa.ae
All participating schools must fill out this form and submit it with their project file.
