BOSTONOn Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, FX channel is scheduled to air the fifth season of the
critically acclaimed horror anthology American Horror Story. Previous seasons include:
Murder House, Asylum, Coven and the most recent, Freakshow. Season five, entitled
Hotel, will feature new additions to the cast, including the renowned singer-songwriter and

protagonist along with rumored love interest, White Collar actor, Matt Bomer.
Lady Gaga will be taking the place of veteran female lead, Jessica Lange, who will not be

American Horror Story. Her unique music videos, persona, costumes and artistic talent will
enhance the atmosphere of the show. In regards to Gagas appearance, Murphy said, I think
she's been looking for some outlet to really dig in there and create a character. I guarantee the
role will shock people.
This season, fans are looking forward to watching how Hotels plot and the new additions to
the cast will fit into the larger picture of American Horror Story. In regards to the newest
season John Landgraf, the FX Network President, said, One of the things I love so much about
[A.H.S.] is that it can be radically, radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period,
characters, cast...I think theres going to be an unusually large reinvention in between book four
and book five.

Section XI. Advertisements: Target Description

The partnership of A.H.S. and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence forms a
cohesive audience, as both consist of largely women demographic. On one side A.H.S. attracts
and targets women who are fans of it and NCADV aims to speak to abused victims. Since
A.H.S. defines its audience as working-class women, who most likely listen to the radio when
commuting to work, we select stations widely listened to by adults. The locations to broadcast
are national radio stations: NPR, CBS Radio Network, NBC Radio Network and Fox News
Radio. Also, Spotify, Pandora and SiriusXM Radio, as they reach same audience.
Those who are a part of the PSA would also have a great influence on the audience. Lady Gaga
and Evan Peters would be the two voice-over artists and due to their popularity, more exposure
of the PSA would occur due to their familiarity with the public.
For outdoor advertising A.H.S.s best option is to create a billboard. They will be placed in
major cities such as Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles because they are densely
populated areas, which heavily consist of A.H.Ss audience and experience much traffic. By
using a billboard, A.H.S. can advertise to their target market, of working class women, as well
as new potential audiences who will see the billboards during travel.
American Horror Storys magazine ad will be successful in targeting the series target
demographic by placing it in popular entertainment publications read by working women from
18 to 49 such as Entertainment Weekly, People, TV Guide, and Time Magazine. The magazine
advertisement also successfully speaks to demographic by featuring Lady Gaga, as she is a wellknown artist and powerful figure, ranking in Forbes The Worlds Most 100 Powerful Women

List. The graphic is primarily meant to attract A.H.S.s target audience to watch the upcoming
season and it does so successfully by headlining Lady Gagas role in Hotel.
