Rationale:
The 21st century presents many new challenges. In a competitive world, we need leaders with
novel ideas, who are willing to take risks, inspire and motivate, and build new strategic partnerships to
address global challenges. In the 21st Century Leadership people learn the mindset that helps them
identify opportunities for change and harness the diverse skills necessary to make that change
happen. Student leadership serves as a training ground in honing the leadership skills of students
and prepares them to become good professionals in the future. Thus, the Secondary Laboratory
School will be conducting a leadership camp.
In general, the training aims to develop and/or enhance the management and leadership
knowledge, skills and attitudes of student leaders through dynamic plenary sessions, interactive
break-out sessions and enriched discussions. The Leadership Camp is anchored with the theme:
Responding the Needs of the 21st Century Leaders: Nurturing Mind, Honing Characters.
Objectives:
The SLS Leadership Camp aims to:
instill good values which student leaders must possess;
develop their skills in basic letter and resolution writing and parliamentary procedures;
provide them knowledge on proper bidding and procurement;
increase their environmental awareness;
hone their skills in responding disasters;
enhance their interpersonal and communication skills through dynamic plenary session
interactive break-out sessions, enriched discussions, team building and socialization activities;
and
inspire and make them realize the value of their leadership in the university, in their lives as
students and in their future careers.
