District
Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's annual
summer celebration of the arts, is back for a tenth year this
Friday, July 8th at the August Wilson Center. This year's event is
in conjunction with the Gallery Crawl around the Cultural District.
The event hosts two parties: a VIP portion and a general
admission party. The general admission event kicks off at 9:00
p.m. with music curated by emerging music gurus VIA, presenting
something for everyone from the brassy Balkan-infused technofunk-jazz-hip-hop beats by West Philadelphia Orchestra, a red-hot

funk-jazz-hip-hop beats by West Philadelphia Orchestra, a red-hot

Brazilian Beleza party by DJ SMI, a nod to Prince with the funk
and groove of Boulevards, an immersive dance and sound
experience by Slowdanger, and undulating house rhythms from
Chocolate Boombox's DJ Anthony Susan... all while evolving
urban artist Jeremy M. Raymer paints live. Guests will even be
able to bid on his pieces through a silent auction during the
event.
The VIP portion gets the party started early from 7:00- 9:00 p.m.,
featuring local chefs showcasing distinctive dishes unique to their
dining establishments. Chef David Bulman with Plated Trade and
Chef Derek Stevens with the soon-to-open Union Standard will
both represent unique dishes to cater the event. Additionally,
restaurant incubator Smallman Galley will highlight three
ascending chefs from Carota Caf, Josephine's Toast, and
Provision PGH.
Tickets for the event start at $30 for general admission and
includes two drink tickets, followed by never-ending $3 happy
hour drinks all night. VIP tickets are $95 and include an open bar,

AMPD Brings 'Burgh Favorites to

the North Shore
If you haven't yet made it out to your first Bucco's game this
season, there's also a chance you haven't had the opportunity to
visit Federal Street's two newest restaurants: Local Brewhouse
and Steel Cactus PNC.
The new North Shore eateries are owned by Pittsburgh's premier
entertainment and hospitality management company, AMPD
group, and have already proven to be many Pittsburghers'
favorite lunch, dinner, and nightlife destinations.
Steel Cactus PNC is
AMPD's third Steel
Cactus location, and
Local Brewhouse is a
North Shore spin-off of
a South Side favorite,
Local Bar + Kitchen.
Both Local Brewhouse
and Steel Cactus PNC
bring to the North
Shore all of the
elements that patrons
love about the original
locations, such as the
floor-to-ceiling
windows, with a few
new twists to
accommodate the
wide range of
customers in the area. One of AMPD's goals for expanding these
brands into the North Shore is to service local businesses by
offering a fun and friendly and social lunch atmosphere, as well
as catering options.
Local Brewhouse features a limited version of the Local Bar +
Kitchen menu, with favorites such as their Grilled Cheese
Cheeseburger and the Buffalo Chicken Dip appetizer. Guests enjoy
a vibrant atmosphere and rustic aesthetic similar to the South
Side eatery, in addition to a new private party room that can be
rented for events.
Steel Cactus PNC has the same fun and funky vibe that
Pittsburghers have come to expect from the brand, and its
outdoor bar and patio make it a great lunch destination. Pirates

outdoor bar and patio make it a great lunch destination. Pirates

fans can even order select menu items from inside of the
stadium.
AMPD Group hopes that bringing the Local and Steel Cactus
brands to the North Shore will also create an atmosphere of yearround nightlife in an area that has been historically characterized
as a game-time destination. So if you've only thought of the
North Shore as a pre- and post-game spot, think again! Game or
no game, make Local Brewhouse and Steel Cactus PNC your next
stop.

Beautifying Downtown
Opened in 1939 in the Union Trust Building by Larry Morris and
Harry Slesinger, Larrimor's has become the pinnacle of fashion for
the Downtown area. Larrimor's continues to earn Esquire
Magazine's "Best of Class" recognition year after year and is the
only Downtown retailer to do so. The key to success of his
prestigious business, according to co-owner Tom Michael, is
"great fashion and great customer service."
Now, Larrimor's is embarking on a new journey to further expand
the realm of the Downtown shopping experience.
"We think that two things we need Downtown are a MedExpress
and a makeup store," Michael said.
Larrimor's is actively working to make one of those wishes a
reality with their Bring More Beauty to Downtown Pittsburgh
initiative. The store has started a petition to open a cosmetics
store Downtown. Once the petition gets 1,000 signatures,
Larrimor's plans to forward a letter and the petition to stores like
Ulta and Sephora.
The petition can be signed either in store or online.
With such projects as Bring More Beauty to Downtown Pittsburgh
and Fashion Week Downtown, along with a resurgence of people
moving back to the core of the city, Michael is excited about the
direction that Downtown retail is headed.
"I think we have a very dynamic Downtown today," he said. "We
think Downtown is more vibrant than it was five years ago or
seven years ago. We only see positive things coming."

Happy Birthday, Pittsburgh!
