Initial ideas:
Mind maps:
In this assignment I have created some mind maps, these
were to determine the content i have included in the logo
and in the ident, this is because when I create anything I
write down all of my ideas on a mind map and then go
overt them and pick out the best ideas and use them for
the project (screen shots of the mind maps to the right).
Copyright laws:
Copyrights and patents were created in 1988 and were made
for two main reasons, giving the creator protection in case
someone stole the work and rewarding the creator as no one
else can steal their work. Copyrights apply to mp3, songs, text,
videos, pictures etc. copy right symbol to the right.

Planning:
Production budget:
For this project I have a production budget of 4,000 this money will
cover the cost of equipment, filming and editing i havent decided If the
ident will be filmed or not so I have created a budget
report where I list all of the assets I am sure I will
need, then I make another list will lot of different
variables (actors, camera man, camera and
transport) I have mentioned that these might not be
needed so I have got two different left over budget
report (shown to the right). Also because these are variables, I have linked
all of the variable prices together so when I change one of the numbers in
the variable category, all of them change this makes it a lot quicker than
having to go through all of the different catagories and manually change
each and every number that is asociated with the field I am changing an
eample of this is if I change the hourly rate of the actors, it will change the
rate, the overall number on the variable table and the end budget for if I
decide to film.
Timescale:
As I havent got long to complete this project I have two different
documents in which I have a schedule that I need to keep to and at the
end of every lesson I update these documents with what I did that lesson
these tow documents are called the LIP and the gantt chart, I got the LIP
from Moodle this is a Marple College page and I created the Gantt chart
myself. These both basically tell me what tasks I have to complete that
lesson and what tasks I completed in all the lessons before. Below are
screen shots of the two different documents (the gantt and the ILP both
used for keeping on track and up to date with all of the work so I complete
all of the tasks on time and so that I can review exactly what I have done
every lesson, what took the longest to do and what took the least amount
of time.)
I have decided on what will be in my ident, now I know exactly what roles I
need, in this project I will need: 1 actor, 1 camera man and transport.
Even through the ident is only 20 seconds long It will take a few hours to
film as my idea involves traveling to
different locations so it will take a lot
of time in travel as the actor will be
walking and the scenes will keep
cutting to different locations. In the
screen shot of the budget to the right
it shows that I only need one actor, 1
camera man and transport for a few
hours.
As there are only a few roles needed in this project it will be very easy to
manage the filming on the project, all that is going to happen on the
filming day is filming a few seconds of footage in one location, moving to
another location, filming, moving to another location, filming etc. until I
have a lot of footage and then picking the best few clips, cut them down
to size and use them in the ident.
Production paperwork:
In this production there will be a few clearance papers to fill out, this will
include all of the different places I film (if it is private land most/all of the
places I plan of filming are public land), if any people appear in the ident
this wont happen as I will ensure the area is clear of any people before
filming therefore the only people in the ident will be the actor so I only
need clearance papers from myself, I will also try and get some music
composed for the ident myself so I will need clearance papers from the
songs composer. As I am not filming the ident unit after this assignment I
cannot show the clearance papers as I have not
got them yet as I havent started filming yet.

assignment to the right.
Design development:
Storyboarding:
Logo:
The logo is the only story board I have filled out the
image to the right is a screen shot of the logo I chose
to create a simple logo as it looks good and doesnt
take too long to create this is so I dont waste time
on the logo and go over the deadline with all of the
other documents I have to create. (The text on the
right of the image is just a description of the logo on
the main box of the image the part that says THE GRID)
Timing animation sequence (dope sheets):
For this ident I only have 20 seconds, however for my idea it will take a
few hours to film as I will be cutting to a lot of different locations,
therefore it will take a while to travel to all the different locations, in the
dope sheets I have pasted belo9w I have made a rough idea of what I will
be doing in this ident. In this ident Im going to be walking around
different locations with my phone out, I will create an image and have it
displayed on the phone I will then play this on the advert and have it cut
to different locations and possibly different times (e.g. daylight/night).
(images below).
Client liaison:
In this project I have a client liaison whereby I meet with the client and
show off my proposal and get feedback from the client with my ideas for
the ident. This liaison is scheduled for after I finish creating the proposal
(this document) In the proposal all different topics are covered such as:
production budget, timescale, management and roles, production
paperwork, working for a client, storyboarding, logo, timing animation
sequence (dope sheets), client liaisons, client needs, mind map of ideas,
storyboards, dope sheets, script, demographic, logo design, colour
scheme, music, sound, format, copyright laws (software), hardware
requirements, software requirements and assets collected. All of these
mentioned are listed on the assignment brief. In the proposal I will go into
detail about all of these points to better explain what I am going to do to
create the ident, how I am creating it etc.
-Update-
After meeting with the client, they said that they were very happy with my
ideas and said that I should make the ident that I designed on the dope
sheets.

Storyboards:
Dope sheets:
I designed some dope sheets in this assignment so that I could plan out
and annotate what I was going to happen in the ident, the images below
are images of all the different
ident I have
created to show what is going to
happen in
the ident even though the ident
is only 20
seconds long I have a lot of
different
dope sheets as I plan to cut to
lots of
different locations on the ident as
part of my
plan for the content of the ident.
In the ident
I plan on filming in: Marple,
Woodley,
Stockport, Romiley, around Romiley, Around Marple etc. in a range of
different environments
such as town area,
fields, near lakes etc.
Demographic:
Logo design:
Colour scheme:
For the logo the three main colours I have chosen are red, blue and green,
I chose these as they are primary colours which are meant to grab the
audiences attention, however there will be a variety of different colours in
the ident as my plan is to film is lots of different locations and cut to each
one after a couple of seconds therefore there will be some fields, lakes,
town areas etc. But for the logo there will be blue, red and green (colour
blocks of blue red and green shown to the right to show the three main
colours. I have decided on a three main colour logo as it is popular in
media to have three main colours in images, logos and other assets this
is very popular in the magazine side of Media, by making the logo have
three main colours I have tried to design both a simple and good looking
logo.
Music:
Sound:
Format:
The format of this ident will be very fast paced in order to attract the
attention of the audience, the video will have a lot of jump cuts to
different locations and the music I am going to get composed will also be
fast paced to match the video and attract the attention of the audience. I
decided to have a fast paced format over a slow paced format as it better
suits the target audience the client is aiming at, as well as this it allows
me to add more content into the 20 second slot I have available instead of
trying to drag out the smallest amount of content over 20 seconds. The
image to the right is one of the dope sheets I produced, this helped me
plan out the ident, it shows some of the details such as time per scene,
frames per scene etc.
Hardware requirements:
In this project I have a budget of 4,000 and I have decided to use 1,199
of this budget to buy an Apple iMac 4K 21.5, this is so that I can very
easily and quickly produce the advert as the computer I chose will be able
to run several different Adobe programmes at
once instead of a slower computer that
might/will crash if decide to run several
different Adobe programmes at the same time.
Therefore, the hardware requirements for this
assignment are quite high meaning I needed to
buy a professional computer over a budget
computer that wouldnt allow me to do as
much at once (run more applications at the
same time as the clock speed on
lower/cheaper/budget computers is lower than
the computer I have chosen meaning it cannot run applications at the
same speed).
Software requirements:
As I made most of the assets for this assignment the assets are very brief
as the only document I needed to research for was the budget as I needed
to research the cost of the different assets I needed to make the ident.
