ThisstudyinvolvesawebbasedexperimentdesignedtoincreaseourunderstandingofmindsetandGallup
StrengthsFinderANDGritScale.ThestudyisbeingconductedbyMarilynKaplan,PhDandMariaHasenhuttl,PhDofThe
UniversityofTexasatDallas,andithasbeenapprovedbyTheUniversityofTexasatDallasInstitutionalReviewBoard.No
deceptionisinvolvedandthestudyinvolvesnomorethanminimalrisktoparticipants(i.e.,thelevelofriskencounteredin
dailylife).
Youhavecompetedthesurveysaspartofyourcourseassignment,andyourparticipationwillberecordedforgrade
completionpurposes.However,participationinthestudyisstrictlyanonymousandvoluntary.Byparticipation,wemean
thatyourscoreswillbeusedconfidentiallyinaggregatecomparisonsofthedata.
Yourdata(surveyscores)willonlybeusedaspartofthestudyifyouchoosetoparticipateinthestudy.Allresponsesare
treatedasconfidential,andinnocasewillresponsesfromindividualparticipantsbeidentified.Rather,alldatawillbe
pooledandpublishedinaggregateformonly.Participantsshouldbeawarehowever,thattheexperimentisnotbeingrun
froma"secure"httpsserverofthekindtypicallyusedtohandlecreditcardtransactions,sothereisasmallpossibilitythat
responsescouldbeviewedbyunauthorizedthirdparties(e.g.,computerhackers).Manyindividualsfindparticipationin
thisstudyenjoyable,andnoadversereactionshavebeenreportedthusfar.Participationisvoluntary,refusaltotakepartin
thestudyinvolvesnopenaltyorlossofbenefitstowhichparticipantsareotherwiseentitled,andparticipantsmaywithdraw
fromthestudyatanytimewithoutpenaltyorlossofbenefitstowhichtheyareotherwiseentitled.
