RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the resource.
Google Earth allows students to virtually fly around the world and explore different places. One can also
measure area, distance, elevation, as well as draw paths. You are given the choices such as street view, 3D
Trees, Historical Imagery, Navigation, tours, and sharing screen shots. Google Earth can be used for
entertainment or for activities.

Given the information above, would your recommend this resource? Why or why not? Include any additional
considerations or notes you have.
-For certain projects or virtual field trips, I would highly recommend using google earth. Students will have a
virtual realm in their hands and they are able to move along at their own pace or work with others, plus it is
easy to use. Students will have the ability to learn and see more through the use of Google Earth.
Older students, such as high schoolers, may not be as intrigued by the virtual tours, so I would recommend
this students in middle school and younger.
IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
-Students could do a flight simulation and explore places around the Earth and write a few things that they found
intriguing from each place they visit. Later the class could discuss the differences between places around the world and
even go further and explore their cultures. Google Earth can also be used to show students where Historical Markers
are and then discuss or explain why those markers were placed there.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the resource.
Blogger is a website that allows students to create and personalize a blog about themselves or a topic of their choice.
Blogger allows students to utilize their typing skills and be creative with their writings. Blogger is a way for students to
express themselves, comment on their classmates blogs, or connect with others who agree or disagree with them.

RECOMMENDATION
Given the information above, would your recommend this resource? Why or why not? Include any additional

I would highly recommend blogger as a resource because it can help students think critically and express
what those thoughts in a professional forum online. Since blogs can be viewed by others, they can also
communicate with their classmates and almost anyone else who is on Blogger. Students could search
similar topics to see examples or to see why others agree or disagree with their thoughts. I think that this

resource would be best suited for students at the middle school level because at that age they will be able to
maneuver the internet and work with the site to find sources and write their blog. I feel that younger students
may struggle with Blogger a little, but they could still use it if their teacher felt they were ready.
IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
Students could use blogger as a way to express the way they feel about certain topics or ideas. Teachers could set
aside time for students to use blogger for creative writing, while improving their typing skills. Or students could use
Blogger as a way to explain what they are learning, what they would like to learn and/or what they actually did learn.
Blogger could be used to allow students to set goals for themselves, then record their progress throughout the class
and lastly how they thought they did or any suggestions for the future students who will take the class. Students can
write reports on Blogger too.

RECOMMENDATION

Prezi is an excellent resource for students 6th grade and above because these students have usually seen a
similar type of presentation form (PowerPoint). Students are able to share their presentations and view other
students around the world. If students wish to learn more about Texas History, they can pull up someone
elses Prezi and learn from that.
IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
-Students could create a Prezi at the beginning of the year, to introduce themselves to the class. Prezi has many
different templates, sound effects and pictures that you can use and you can import your own. A great example of using
Prezi would be to have students work together to explain the events that happened during a certain time period of
History. Students can organize the presentation to flow in an order of events. They can put pictures of people from that
time and music as well.

I would highly recommend the use of Garage Band for students around the middle school age and above
because it is a more complex system for creating music. It is a great way for students to learn to play the
piano or run their own music studio, where they get to be creative.
IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
Students could use Garage Band to create a rap or song to help learn a vocabulary lesson. Students could also use
the music aspect to help each other remember key concepts for history classes. For example, a 7 th grade class could
make a song or rap that help students remember when certain wars occurred. Students could record the song and play
it for the class. They could also share their song, so that other schools or students could use it too.

IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
-Students can use Twitter as a way to keep themselves updated with assignments or grades. English teachers
can use Twitter to encourage students to look at other points of view or to correct the grammar that they see.
Twitter can be used a way to show students how they can be perceived by others.

I would highly recommend the use of Slide Share in the classroom, because students can connect with

with new ideas for a power point presentation. Students in middle school and above would benefit from this
resource because they will be able to have their own account and they will know how to use it wisely. The
younger grades may have a tough time understand the uploading.

IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
Students could use Slide Share to publish a Power Point based upon research about a historian, an all about me
presentation or a how to presentation that shows other students how to survive high school or middle school. I would
allow my middle school students to create a power point that tells others How to Survive Middle School; I would be
interested in their responses. The students would upload these to Slide Share for others to see them and they would be
told to review their classmates Slide Shares. There would be bonus points awarded to anyone who found a Slide Share
with this topic that was not created by a student in the class. I feel as though students would enjoy this website and
benefit greatly from the different views.

I would highly recommend Edmodo to almost any grade level. Edmodo can help keep parents up to date on classroom

have chats, and complete polls.
IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
In the classroom, Edmodo could be used to have class discussions and take quizzes. The teacher could give an
assignment on Edmodo that students must turn in online. Then once the students turn in their assignment, they could
be asked to take a quiz about that assignment. Such as write a paragraph on the principles of management, then they
could take a quiz that relates to their reading and the assignment. The students could then take a poll about the
hardness of the assignment and quiz. Students can work at their own pace and the teacher can lock the quiz at a
certain time and set a time limit on the quiz.

the website as a way to communicate with you and so that they can see a running syllabus throughout the class. It
helps everyone to be informed and these days that is crucial.
IMPLEMENTATION IDEAS
How could you use this in the classroom?
In the classroom, Google sites would be used as a resource for students to check up on their assignments for the
coming weeks. In high school, I would have my students constantly check the class syllabus to know when
assignments will be assigned and turned in (this is how college is). I would also use Google sites for students to create
their own business website. This would be during the lesson about marketing and making sure they know what a good
website for a business looks like. They may even upload real photos and videos that describe their business and its
purpose. Then students could evaluate other students websites and explain in a paper how important advertising is,
when it comes to the business world.

researching marketing for other businesses. I would have students look up 5 different business twitter accounts and
