THE LOWLY WALK, PART 2

HUMILITY EXEMPLIFIED
Our Lord, and God Jesus Christ exemplified
humility in Carmen Christy.
Phi 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in
Christ Jesus,
Phi 2:6 who, being in the form of God, did not
consider it robbery to be equal with God,
Phi 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation [made
himself valueless] , taking the form of a bondservant,
and coming in the likeness of men.
Phi 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He
humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of
death, even the death of the cross.
OBS: The King of Kings, and the Lord of lords
came to earth in the form of man, and
became a servant of God and even man.
Phi 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in
Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the
Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
Phi 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having
the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Phi 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition
or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem
others better than himself.
Phi 2:4 Let each of you look out not only for his own
interests, but also for the interests of others.
OBS: In Matthew 11:29 He said - "For I am
meek and lowly in heart."
He was born in a stable.
He never had a place to lay His head.
He possessed no property.
He owned only the garments on His body.
He was buried in a borrowed tomb.
He was always a stranger.
His only home was the Mount of Olives
where He would retire in the evening in
quietness with the father
IMITATE CHRIST
1Jo 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself
also to walk just as He walked.
THE WORLD WHO DOESNT KNOW HUMILITY
OBS: Our world has never known what
Humility is all about. Ours is a world that
exalts pride.

JMAC: all of human nature throughout all of

history has looked down on humility as
weakness as infirmity as something to be
despised, something ignoble.
CONC: We are so focused upon pride.
AS IF: THE WORLD: We are so proud of ____.
JMAC: Ostentation, boasting, parading,
demanding, exalting, we're forever and a
day pinning awards on everybody
EXAMPLE: JMAC: and they were telling all
about the Dove Awards, the new Christian
Dove Awards which are now given out to
the outstanding Christian of this and the
outstanding of that and so forth
IM THE GREATEST
1. I am the greatest Muhammad Ali.
2. "I'm confident because I'm the best
player in the world, Its that simpleJames
Lebron" (June 14, 2015)
3. "No disrespect to anyone else but I feel
like I'm the best player in the world."- Kevin
Durant (13 Aug 2015).
4. When asked if he was the best player in
the world:
In my mind, yes, Curry said. Thats how I
have confidence out there that I can play at
a high level every night. if you dont think
that when youre on the floor, then youre
doing yourself a disservice.(Dec 23, 2015)
5. Kobe in 2013 claimed he was the best
one-on-one player.
OBS: That is in Sports. Everyone is the
greatest. And we could call it pride.
JMAC: I'm the greatest. That's an exaltation
of self. That's typical in our society.
SATAN AND PRIDE

PRIDE AND PROVERBS

JMAC ASKED ABOUT OBTAINING HUMILITY
I was sitting on the fireplace and sitting on
the hearth and talking and they were asking
questions. And one of the students, very
serious, said to me - John, he said, how did

you finely overcome pride?

THE WRONG ANSWER: well, it was two years
ago when I finally licked it (laughter) yes,
and it's never been a problem since then. So
wonderful to be constantly humble, in fact
it's just glorious.
JMAC: Folks, I don't know how to tell you
this, I have not finally overcome pride.
That's a battle every day, isn't it? Every day.
Satan keeps that one at you all the time.
GOD HATES PRIDE ISA 2
Isa 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust,
From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His
majesty.
Isa 2:11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled,
The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And
the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
Isa 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts Shall
come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon
everything lifted up; And it shall be brought low;
Isa 2:13 Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are
high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
Isa 2:14 Upon all the high mountains, And upon all
the hills that are lifted up;
Isa 2:15 Upon every high tower, And upon every
fortified wall;
Isa 2:16 Upon all the ships of Tarshish, And upon all
the beautiful sloops.
Isa 2:17 The loftiness of man shall be bowed down,
And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;
The LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
OBS: When you get to see God, and then
when you look at yourself, your best
reaction is: to hide under a rock.
JMAC: you'd better get under a rock. You're
a bug in comparison. You'd better crawl in
the dirt somewhere when you see the
majesty of God. When you're compared with
the glory and majesty of God you'd better
get under a rock.
OBS: You dont have a tete-a-tete with God
like having coffee with Him upon seeing
Him.
OBS: It is not that God is one divine
egotistic, but in reality, compared to His
majesty, that is simply the logic.
NLT: Human pride will be humbled, and

human arrogance will be brought down.

Only the LORD will be exalted on that day of
judgment.
CONC: JMAC: Pride is a sin because it is the
sin of competing with God.
-When we are in pride mode, we are
sinning.
CONC; Pride is stealing the glory to God.
Isa 48:11 For My own sake, for My own sake, I will
do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I
will not give My glory to another.
The LORD alone will be exalted in
that day
There is nothing that we have dont ever is
worthy of honor and glory when compared
to God. For God alone is worthy of
exaltation.
CONC: we remain the worse than a maggot
(according to Bildad).
Job 25:6 How much less man, who is a maggot, And
a son of man, who is a worm?"
CONC FROM ISAIAH 2: God is going to judge
pride, He's going to judge haughtiness,
loftiness, setting an exaltation on man is
going to be judged.
OBS: Not only is all our works be judged, but
even our pride will be judged.
HOW ABOUT OUR SOCIETY?
We want to get the best clothes, the
fanciest clothes, the fanciest car, the
fanciest house, the nicest stuff.
We want the latest of all gadgets, tools,
phones, etc.
We want the best house, the best of all
things the world could offer.
And most of the time, our motive for
obtaining such things is to elevate
ourselves over another.
CAVEAT: There is a fine line between
legitimate need of quality things but if our
motive is to impress others, then we are at
error.
JMAC: as we begin to get things at a certain
level, then we begin to despise the people
beneath our level. And aspire to the ones
above us constantlyand that is pride.

THE CONTEXT OF ISAIAH- Isaiah 3

Isa 3:16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the
daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with
stretched forth [craning] necks and wanton
[painted/seductive]eyes, walking and mincing [as]
they go, and making a tinkling [jingling] with their
feet:
Isa 3:17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the
crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the
LORD will discover their secret parts.
Isa 3:18 In that day the Lord will take away the
bravery of [their] tinkling ornaments [about their
feet], and [their] cauls, and [their] round tires like the
moon,
Isa 3:19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the
mufflers,
Isa 3:20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs,
and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
Isa 3:21 The rings, and nose jewels,
Isa 3:22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the
mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
Isa 3:23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the
hoods, and the vails.
Isa 3:24 And it shall come to pass, [that] instead of
sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a
girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness;
and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth;
[and] burning instead of beauty.
Isa 3:25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy
mighty in the war.
OBS: Basically, the nation of Israel has
become Proud and boastful, now it is time
for God to level them down.
JMAC: here was a society that was a whole
bunch of show-offs. They were lording and
exalting themselves and fixing themselves
up to attract attention to themselves. When
the fact of the matter is everyone in that
society should have been simply an
instrument to point to God, the God of
Israel.
Jer 50:31 Behold, I [am] against thee, [O thou] most proud,
saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time
[that] I will visit thee.
Jer 50:32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and
none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities,
and it shall devour all round about him.
Mal 4:1 "For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an
oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be
stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,"
Says the LORD of hosts, "That will leave them neither root
nor branch.

GOD DESIRES HUMILITY

Jam 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore
He says: "God resists the proud, But gives
grace to the humble."
1Jo 2:16 For all that is in the world; the lust
of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life; is not of the Father but is of the
world.

CONC: Pride - God is against. Humility - God

is for. Humility is always the virtue of the
righteous.
Proverbs 15:33 says; "Before honor is
humility.
Proverbs 22:4; "By humility and the fear of
the Lord are riches and honor of life."
Proverbs 27:2; "Let another man praise thee
and not thine own mouth.
-And by the way even if none praises you,
keep your pride to yourself until it dies
down.
Isa 51:1 "Listen to Me, you who follow after
righteousness, You who seek the LORD: Look to the
rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of
the pit from which you were dug.
Whenever we are tempted to be cocky or
be proud, remember who we were and
who we are. (Eph 2:1)
Pro 18:12 Before destruction the heart of a
man is haughty, And before honor is
humility.
OBS: We can trace every sin rooting back to
pride.
