There is no doubt that life has been changed dramatically by the development of
pharmaceutical drugs. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the average life expectancy
at the beginning of the 20th century was 47.3 years. A century later, that number had
increased to 77.85. Even though diseases are not completely eradicated vaccines and or
pharmaceutical drugs still offer short-term solutions to treat them. These pharmaceutical
drugs range from a number of over the counter medications like ibuprofen, Tylenol or
Advil to prescribed drugs like Generic Prozac, Morphine or Tramadol. Every other
commercial seems to promote a different or new drug. Even though its understood that
the profits the pharmaceutical companies are making have been flourishing you have to
wonder what will be the ripple effect of promoting pharmaceutical drugs so much.
Pharmaceutical drugs has become a controversial debate because of the health related
issues and necessary treatments in the industry and the focus of profits for pharmaceutical
users in the U.S. being for them or against them.
The pharmaceutical industry is held the United States largest industry as a global
leader. Marie Salter from the Northwestern University School of Law, in 2015, wrote on
Referenced Pricing: A Model for the U.S. pharmaceutical industry, Perhaps what
differentiates the U.S. pharmaceutical industry from the pharmaceutical industries of
other nations is its free market price setting (Referenced Pricing). United States drug

industry is a free market, and Americans are prescribed drugs at a higher cost due to
pharmaceutical drugs being a big business in the U.S. This method is stated profitable for
the Big Pharma making it more profitable for the industry to receive and promote
different and new drugs for necessary treatments. The industries profitable aspects for
their drugs promotes by TV commercials for watchers and interested customers. Users of
prescription drugs reliance in order to survive also gain the industries profits because of
the amount spent every year on pharmaceutical drugs. Therefore, Americans will pay a
better cost for prescriptions or new prescriptions for their illnesses and health. Overall,
the U.S. pharmaceutical drug users are willing to pay the price for their health to survive
by purchasing prescription drugs weather they are old or new drugs on the market that
they are qualified for.
Pharmaceutical industries are trumping the safety of pharmaceutical drug users
and the sales that Big Pharmas are profiting from. Thom Hartmann, in 2013 wrote an
article on the 11 major drug companies, finding that Americans Big Pharma companies
spends twice the cost on control, promoting, and publicizing than research and expansion
for necessary treatment (alternet.org). Therefore Americans that are prescription drug
users are paying double in number and also double in the amount of money spent every
year on pharmaceutical drugs. There is known to be millions of Americans treated for
several diseases or illnesses that are mostly evaluated uninsured. Because Americans
have followed through paying high cost for medication and dealing with trumped sales
are now making valuable protest for their life saving treatments (alternet.org). Users
paying higher cost in drugs are causing them to start operation against the drug industry
and the free market in the United States.

The application of pharmaceutical drug users leads to addiction. There are three
known classes of prescription drugs that include opioids, depressants, and stimulants.
Several of reasons show that medications treat their users but most that are abused for
reasons like treating pains, sleeping disorders or anxiety. Prescription drugs are shown as
the most commonly abused drug other than marijuana. The pharmaceutical drug national
data collected for prescribed drugs are accurately known safe but, can cause danger when
prescriptions are taken incorrectly or for unintended purposes (phrma.org). With that
prescription drugs are known as the third most commonly abused drug. Prescribed drugs
become addictive by users other than the patient labeled for or taken in a manner of
inconsistency. Overall, there was an estimation of 48 million people abusing
pharmaceutical drugs, reported as 20% of the American population (NCADD.org).
Americans all over the world of all ages abuse prescription drugs. Therefore, prescription
drugs are stated to have a downfall in the industry based on the deaths and severe health
issues due to pharmaceutical drugs. The message sent by majority of Americans protest
due to the industry against the American health.
Pharmaceutical drugs are treating millions of Americans each year with multiple
of health related issues. Most Americans look at pharmaceutical drugs as a positive
impact on health issues because of the necessary treatment that medicines offer. Different
groups, like the sick, who agree with pharmaceutical drugs also, do not agree but because
of health issues and survival for most individuals who deal with severe sickness day to
day for the rest of their lives follow through. So the great amounts of users that show
dependency of medications because of different illnesses and disease that require
medicine in order to survive replies thankful to pharmaceutical industries that keep them

living. So, therefore, Americans continue getting prescriptions for a reason to live another
day. Users being recommended new medications by their doctors and suggestions of a
superior medicine listen for survival and take it into adhesive to try new medications in
order to make them feel better.
Therefore, pharmaceutical drugs will always have issues within the United States
because the pharmaceutical industry is continuing to develop new medications with the
questions whether there necessary treatments or profits for the industry. The safety of
Americans is also developing a protest against the industry of prescription drugs. Due to
the deaths and addiction to medicines hold the wall between the controversial debates
weather industries are for the Americans or against them. Medications of pharmaceutical
drugs are too being used properly and helping others with health related issues but as well
have a downfall in trumping the users safety for profit reasons. Pharmaceutical drugs can
be viewed in two directions that depend on the person, but most medicines have showed
safety for users health intended for. Many of American lives have been saved by
pharmaceutical drugs by the consistency of taking medicines for any illness or health
reasons.
