Audience Analysis
The election is an important event for the youth and especially for students who are beginning their
professional life. As a part of the workforce, they need to be included in political life. They are the
children of the 80s and 90s who are graduated or will be graduated soon from school.
This is an educated audience, who went to university and college. The Duval County Supervisor of
Election office needs to involve them into the life of the city and help them to find their political
aspirations. When a student is graduated, he begins to think about his future adult life and politic life is
part of this. This target public went to high-school and college and pretend to have jobs with
responsibilities and expect a lot from the politic. This audience can be called the New Generation of
Workers. According to the website of the Duval County, 82.7 percent of the people who is 25 years old
or older had a high school degree of higher and 21.9 percent have a bachelors degree or higher.
As they represent the future, they need to be informed and stimulated for their own aspirations
and the future of their country. They are living the beginning of their adult life and need to be informed
of the programs and what candidates want to do for them.
As young workers, they do not live with their parents anymore. According to the website
Ziplookup, the ZIP codes of Jacksonville show that most of the youngest people who are between 2530 years old live on the north of the city, next to the downtown. For example, in the ZIP code 32206,
14.5 percent of the population is aged between 25 and 34 years old in 2016. It is almost the same for
32209, 32220. So the new workers lived without their parents, next to the downtown to be closed of
their place of work. Jacksonville population is active and young; the medium age is around 34 years
old. The new workers are a big part of the active population.

They are in majority single, in the ZIP code 32206 they are 40 percent of the population to never
have been married, according to the Duval County website. At the beginning of the professional life, it
is also the beginning of the family life. So, this audience is a big part of the population and this is a big
challenge for the Duval County Supervisor of Election to talk to them. The youth has always been a
challenge for the political issues. They need clear information and they need to understand the system.
As this audience has diplomas, they are able to think about the political purposes, make critiques and
have an opinion.
Because Generation Y is the largest generation in American history, its a big deal if it remains
one of the most liberal generations ever. But theres a huge, inescapable problem with the viability of
Millennial politics today: Young people just dont vote, Derek Thompson said in the Atlantic.com.
Since they are born, the world is collapsed by wars, crisis and other negatives things. They need
hope and they need to believe in the democracy, in politic in general. That is the role of the Duval
County Supervisor of election. As new on the professional world they need to have information about
their concerns: employment, future. This new generation knows that they are not going to work in the
same company for the rest of their life as their parents did. They need to be hopeful about their future
despite of the crisis and the fact that the media keep saying that there are no jobs for them.
They are also products of a new generation through the web and all the changes made by the
technology. They use technology every day and it takes part of they life. They have a big quantity of
information through the social media; newspapers, TV and they select the information they want. As
they receive a lot of information, The Duval County Supervisor of Election Office needs to be concise
and to use their information networks to touch them.

As digital natives, Millennials are heavy users of social media, relying on platforms such as
Facebook and Twitter to connect them with more than just friends and family. Eighty-eight percent of
Millennials who participated in a March 2015 research study said they use Facebook to find news. This
reliance on social media has fueled debates about how social media and personalized web searches
influence political polarization. At the same time, social media also provides opportunities for people to
actively engage in politics, including communicating directly with community leaders and their staff,
Chaz Kelsh said in journalistsresource.org.
As people born in the 80s, they use internet as the primary source of information. Internet is the
main source for everything, especially the social media like twitter, facebook. The friends are a strong
source of information and came after the social media with internet and the TV.
The goal here is to convince the ones who did not vote yet to register and to give answers to the
ones who dont understand or who does not feel included in the political life. The Duval County
Supervisor of Election Office needs to inform them, discuss with them and to give the key of the
political issues for the County.
