PRAYER

THE PURPOSE
In Luke 14:23, Jesus said Go out into the highways and hedges, and
compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. In this context,
Jesus words have a double-edged message.

GODS PEOPLE

First, His servants are to be messengers who compel others to

heed Gods invitation to partake of His Kingdom. To compel means to
persuade verbally, with appropriate behavior and by example. It assumes a
passionate plea and desire to see others respond to the invitation.
Second, the Fathers invitation is to whosoever will hear and respond
to His call to come and partake of His Kingdom, even to those along the
highways and hedges the sick, the poor, the underprivileged and even
the Gentiles. Thus, the invitation is for all people and nations.
Presently, the American Church is terribly missing the mark in obeying

these words of Jesus. It struggling with its mission because it is wasting

reliance and prayerlessness which makes us Gods enemies (James 4:1-6).

In fact, it is safe to say that never in recent history has there been a
greater need for the Church to experience revitalization and spiritual
renewal than today. Gods call to His people in America is simple Turn
to me with all your hearts Rend your hearts, not your garments

JOEL2:1-5
1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the
day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand: 2 A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like
the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; Nor
will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive generations. 3 A fire devours before them, And behind
them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely
nothing shall escape them. 4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses; And like swift steeds, so they run. 5 With
a noise like chariots over mountaintops they leap, Like the noise of a flaming fire that devours the stubble, Like a strong
people set in battle array.

& GODS DISCIPLINE

Gods Word is clear whom the Lord loves He corrects (Proverbs
3:12). The prophet Joel is Gods mouthpiece to reveal His hand of
discipline upon His people. God sent locusts to devour the land (Joel
1:1-20) with the intention that adversity and discipline would cause
His people to return to Him.
However, they did not repent, so Joel once again delivers Gods
message that hardship and devastation is headed their way. This

Revival is Gods sovereign work. We cannot produce it through
emotions, events, strategies, programs or plans. The message in Joel
2:14 is clear. The people of God must obey His call to repent and return
to Him and then leave the results to Him.

WHO KNOWS

Once they have obeyed His call to a restored relationship, what

immediately, or He may not. But that is not His peoples primary

concern. They must trust Him and see this as a time to refocus their

hearts on their relationship with Him. In Gods sovereignty, He will work

out His purposes in and through their lives.
The same is true today. As believers in America, our primary concern

RELENT?

is not whether or not God relents concerning His discipline and

judgment upon His Church or America. Rather, our primary concern
has to be our relationship with Christ. We must return to Him through
genuine repentance and leave the results up to Gods sovereign
purposes.
Judgment or mercy are Gods to give. When we trust God in this
way, we begin to gain His perspective on how we are to respond to the
present situation. When we gain His perspective, we are on our way to
being restored as obedient servants who compel the lost toward Christ.
