AUCKLAND
Cosmopolitan Auckland, the largest Polynesian
city in the world, is the home to a wide range of
shops and restaurants, as well as busy harbours
and beautiful beaches. Known as the City of Sails,
this handsome high-rise harbor is known for its
boats, beaches, boutiques and brands. Auckland
capitalises on its seafaring roots - the America's
Cup yacht race has been hosted here, and
Auckland has the highest proportion of boats-percapita. The Auckland region is home to 35% of
New Zealand's entire population. Maori heritage is
strong here, and the area is a living example of the
country's ethnic diversity - the heady mix of
Pacific, Asian and European cultures is reflected in
the endless variety of shops, restaurants,
museums, and festivals, ensuring you'll never be
short of something to do.

WHAT TO SEE
SKYCITY
The SKYCITY is a wonderful entertainment destination. The complex
has a large range of restaurants, cafes and bars, a theatre, the
iconic Sky Tower and a world-class casino, is also right on your
doorstep.
BRITOMART
Britomarts refurbished heritage buildings on Aucklands waterfront
are home to award winning restaurants and up market bars. The
vibrant downtown precinct is the go-to place for after work drinks,
group dining, couples nights out and live music. If youre looking for
ambient drinks establishments as well as great eateries - from
casual drop-in, to fine dining restaurants - then be sure to check out
some of these popular Britomart haunts.
PONSONBY
One of the hippest neighborhood villages in Auckland, Ponsonby is
a hub of dining, drinking, shopping and gallery-hopping. At Chapel,
hot hipsters drink and jive along to a soundtrack of 1970s hits, and
deer antlers and vintage Playboy covers line the walls. Be quick to
snare the pick of the cool collectables, vintage and retro trinkets,
designer clothes and handmade jewellery at the outdoor
community-based Ponsonby Road Market.
WHAT TO SEE
AMERICAS CUP VIADUCT HARBOUR
Located in the heart of Auckland City, Viaduct Harbour is an amazing
first class residential, commercial and entertainment area, full of life
during the daytime and nighttime. Viaduct Harbour is host to many
fabulous events including the past Americas Cup defences, Louis
Vuitton Regattas, the Volvo Round the World Race stopover in March
2012, the Auckland International Boatshow and New Zealand Fashion
Week among many other fantastic events. Visitors can explore New
Zealands rich maritime history at the fascinating Voyager Maritime
Museum, cruise the harbour on a luxury yacht and enjoy the world class
hospitality at the many delicious restaurants and bars that line the
water's edge.
WYNYARD QUARTER
In a previous life the Wynyard Quarter (or the docks, as it was then
known) was a downtrodden industrial wasteland but now the area flows
naturally on from popular Viaduct Harbour with its swanky apartments,
hotels, restaurants, cafes and bars overlooking luxury yachts bobbing
gently alongside floating berths. Much of the original infrastructure like
grain silos, warehouses and wharves topped with rail lines remains,
albeit with a 21st century spruce up. Harsh industry has been softened
with childrens playgrounds, parks with water features and striking
public artworks along with a caf strip with outdoor dining beneath
colourful umbrellas waterside. Friday night Silo Cinema beneath the
stars and on the grass is the place to be during summer with a blanket
and picnic hamper as cult movies and old favourites are projected onto
the exterior of Silo #7.
