Google Docs

To use Google Docs you make a Google account. Then you just use
Google Docs like you would a word document. You can share the Google
Doc with classmates by sending them an invitation to join so they can
write and edit at the same time as you so you can all work
collaboratively.
1) A 9-12th grade English collaborative writing assignment
2) Can be used as a place to brainstorm about presentations, writing
assignments, projects, etc. in a 5-12th grade classroom
3) Can be used as a reading response journal. Students have an
ongoing conversation during lecture or after
readings/assignments in 9-12th grade classrooms
Positives:
1) Easy to use and access
2) Allows students who are arent comfortable speaking up in class
to have a voice in an online smaller environment
3) The teacher can access the Google doc and see which group
members are contributing
4) Students can have live educational conversations with each other
all at the same time on a safe and educational environment
Challenges:
1) Can only really be used in middle school and high school
classrooms
2) Have to have access to computers and Google in your classroom
3) Cant upload pictures or templates

Connect over Google Hangouts and everyone shares the same screen
and create the same document. Upload files and pictures. Teachers can
upload templates for their students. Students can also draw on the
document as well.
1) Students can create a storyboard for 8th grade English
2) Students can create a food chain for 5th grade Science
3) Students can create a poster for 12th grade Government
Positives:
1) Can be used on both a laptop or Computer
2) Students can video chat while using the web 2.0 tool
3) Teachers can upload worksheets for students to complete in
groups
4) Students can draw their own pictures

Challenges:
1) Students have to have a Google Hangout account
2) The teacher cant monitor the work unless they are invited
3) Students need to have a webcam

One person signs in and creates an account and then sends the link to
their group for them to join. You can clink on board to add sticky notes to
add notes and pictures to the board. There is also a chat bar at the
bottom of the page for students to use as well.
1) Students and teachers can use it as a class reminder board that
students can access from home (3-12th grade)
2) Students can use this tool for a long-term blogging project in a 612th grade English or History class
3) A place to where in-class groups can work, organize thoughts,
and discuss (6-12th grade)
Positives:
1) Simple to use and its free to make an account
2) Easy tools that are quick and easy to learn
3) Anybody can view the board as long as they have the link (i.e.
Teacher)
4) Board is private to those who have the link, only those people can
edit and view
Challenges:
1) The tools may be too plain and simple for upper level classrooms
2) The pictures that you upload dont show up in a picture form. You
have to download the picture in order to view it.
3) Have to have access to a computer. Not available to ipads or
phones.
