Background: Diabetes mellitus is a disease of glucose (a simple glucose) in the blood is
high because the body can not release or use insulin adequately. Diabetes mellitus, if not
handled properly will lead to the onset of complications. One form of intervention given
to increasing regularity in conducting checks of blood glucose levels in patients with
diabetes
mellitus
is
to
provide
health
education.
Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of health education on knowledge and
examination of regularity of blood glucose levels in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus in the
Polyclinic
Hospital
General
Regional
Interna
Soemarno
Sosroatmodjo.
Methods: The study design used in this study was quasi experimental design: one group
pre test and post test design, namely the design of experiments with the way the sample is
given a questionnaire (measurement) before and after treatment (treatment). Interventions
done directly by collecting the patient in a group therapy meeting to be independent of
diabetes. Sampling was done by purposive sampling according to sampling criteria that
researchers with a number of samples as many as 30 people, then the results were tested
by
paired
T-Test

0.05.
Results: From this study it was found that there is the influence of health education on
knowledge Diabetes mellitus at the Polyclinic Hospital General Regional Interna
Soemarno Sosroatmodjo (p = 0.000), and there is the influence of health education on the
regularity of checking blood glucose levels in Patients with Diabetes mellitus on the
House International Polyclinic Regional General Hospital Soemarno Sosroatmodjo (p =
0.000).
Suggestion: the results of this study is expected to nurse on duty to try to do health
education about how to control blood glucose levels for diabetic patients to prevent
further complications, and the researchers then to be able to conduct research related to
the prevention of sports ties diabetes mellitus or diabetes mellitus relationship with
cardiovascular
disease
events
