Jesus was a visionary; He had a vision for the whole of humanity a vision

that could be described by unity and equality. He was aware and sensitive
to the needs of the people. He saw people struggling, oppressed,
vulnerable, wounded and under the dominion of sin and to liberate them
from these burdens he came down into this world. He took human form to
identify with everyone, left the safety of his home and went into the street
among the poor the crippled, suffering and voiced his opinion against the
oppressors and condemned them for their wrongdoing, because of which
he was killed. His mission was to save humanity and he was faithful to
this mission even to his last breath on the cross. He just did not tell about
Gods love but showed it through concrete action by his helping and
healing ministry. Todays socio political situation in the world is similar to
that one in which Jesus was born. There is poverty everywhere and there
is a huge gap between the poor and the rich, people are mercilessly killed,
tortured, human dignity is lost, the capitalist unjustly tormenting the
working class, growing indifference, materialization, immorality and crime
on a rise, environmental degradation. The world is bruised and hurt and in
this world of chores and agony we the followers of Christ are called to be
another Christ incarnated in this world of suffering. We are not just called
to show the way to salvation but through our help be a form of salvation
here and now for the people. Christianity has been accused of reacting
passively to injustice and suffering because it proposes if we suffer in this
world there are great rewards instored for us in heaven instead of a pie in
the sky theology the authors of all the tree articles call the theologians to
be prophets: who would not shy away from condemning injustice in the
society. The theologians and the priest are called to leave the safety of
their churches and plunge themselves in the society taking the care of the
broken and wounded society this is what it is meant to smell like their
sheep: a shepherded smells like his sheep because he is actively involved
with them, he feeds them he bandages them he bes with them. So also
we who are the shepherd of the lord flock need to be actively engaged in
the society.
The semantic excise that runs parallel in all the three articles is the fact
that there is injustice, oppression, sexism, discrimination in the world. The
articles proposes we need the theologians are to be the prophets who will
fight against these social evils and create a better world. The priests and
religious of today should do this through their service and their writings. It
also makes a claim that theology should be relevant, based on context
and addressing the issues of present day life. It should be a source of
hope for the people of today and affect their life in a positive way. The
Christian community should communicate with the rest of the humanity,
more in a spirit of sharing than with an attitude of instructing and

converting. The church in India has been trying to continue the mission of
the salvation without sufficient incarnation. Christ was God among us.
Smell like sheep. Hence, it is urgent that the church takes up as a priority
a process of authentic identification with the people on all levels. In India
we need prophets if the mission of the salvation has to be properly
fulfilled. The theologians have a special role to play. They have to be alert
and watchful to all that is happening around them. Only with a deep sense
of God within themselves can they discern the presence of god in these
events. They must be able to give expression to their interpretations with
courage and resoluteness. The theologian has to articulate the faith,
making it credible to his contemporaries. He has to study particularly the
present day situation, especially of the youth, their problems and
aspirations so that our people are enabled to encounter the word of God in
its revolutionary power. The prophetic role of the theologian makes hi,
belong deeply to the community of mission. He should foster an attitude
of openness to the rest of the community without sacrificing his specific
role as the interpreter of history and human situation. The third artical
calls us to correct the injustice that is present in the church. The author
righty points out the fact that our Christian theology is gender bias, male
chauvinist, sexist and stereotype and portrays females as evil and a
source of temptation. This wrong attitude also needs to be corrected.
