UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:
List the unit objective for which this lesson is part. This lesson is a continuation of a unit over the American
Civil War.
This lesson talks specifically about Tennessees part in the American Civil War.
The goal for this lesson is for students to learn and understand how important Tennessee was during the
American Civil War.
LESSON OBJECTIVE:
Using a predesigned web quest over Tennessees part in the American Civil War, students will collect facts and
answer questions in a notebook, then they will create a prezi presentation with their facts and answers with
100% accuracy.
STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
HIS 5.11 Explain the significance and outcome of the major battles and identify their location on a map or
visual representation, including:
Fort Sumter
First Battle of Bull Run
Fort Henry and Donelson
Shiloh
Antietam
Gettysburg
Vicksburg
Chickamauga
Franklin
Nashville
Appomattox Court House

MATERIALS:
Access to a minimum 5 computers. Students will be using computers to complete a web quest and creating a
Prezi for the final product.

(lesson is written for a classroom with a full set of classroom computers or access to a class set of laptops. Lesson can be
modified to only use a set of atleats five computers)
This lesson is an extension (part 2) to a previous lesson over an introduction to The American Civil War. This second part
of the lesson will cover the state of Tennessees part in the Civil War.
This lesson can be extended to a part three and so forth to include other major states and their part in the
American Civil War
I will be walking around observing students during their group activates and while they are individually
working. The summative assessment will be their notebooks and prezi presentations.
MODIFICATIONS:
I understand modifications will be needed to compliment certain student needs but that was not covered in this
class (IDT 3600).
TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION:
Technology will be used to complete web quest and individual student prezi presentation.
