Introduction

Background
E-education, also known as technology assisted learning has
existed in institutions for many years. It has been introduced to
benefit students by providing familiar platforms such as laptops,
projectors, tablets and educational apps rather than books for
absorbing knowledge in the various subject fields. The idea is that
the student would understand the work better via the audio-visual
aspects of e-learning rather than just reading theory through text.

Statement of the problem

This is a study investigating the impacts of E-education on the
academic performance of students at Presentation College
Chaguanas, Trinidad. The study specifically looks at the efficiency
of the technology used in this type of learning as well as the
overall satisfaction of students using these technologies.

Purpose of the study

The researcher chose to pursue this study because E-education is
becoming increasingly popular, not only at a tertiary level, but
also secondary and primary levels, but is this form of learning
really assisting all the students? Despite the many benefits, what
are the drawbacks?

Educational value of study

This study is worthwhile because it can emphasize the drawbacks
of technology assisted learning on companies that deal in the
making of educational apps as well as learning tablets, so they
can improve on the learning experience for the students using
them.Additonally, results from this survey can help governments
and institutions decide on whether E-education may be suitable

for certain subjects rather than others and how much finance
should be allocated for technology assisted learning. Most
importantly, this study should benefit not only students but
teachers as well since they are the ones altering their traditional
teaching methods to house this new technology.
