INFORMAL PROPOSAL
Date: November 21, 2016
From: Michael Bediako
To: John McLean
Subject: Informal Proposal

Purpose/Problem
The problem is organizations are trying to figure out methods to increase employee productivity
and motivation. The benefits of teleworking will be presented in this proposal to analyze and
identify effective ways; it can be used in the workplace. We will explain the factors that
influence effective use of this method. The benefits of teleworking are as follows:

Reducing commuting costs

Reducing time spent in traffic or on public transit
Accommodating different working styles and providing flexibility
Reducing office carbon footprint
Increasing work/life balance

This change is best suited for independent style employees. The official topic of choice for this
group assignment will be Can teleworking increase productivity in the workplace? However,
we will be focusing on the vast topic of teleworking.
Feasibility
There is definitely a solution to this problem because of the vast integration of mobile computers
and smart phones into North America. Also, we live in the digital era, and most of office work is
done electronically. Companies can provide employees with equipment are and provide training
to help transition change, if not already implemented. Many companies have moved away from
the traditional 9-5 method and are still very successful. For example, having an employee
begin their work day in the office and going home after lunch to finish outstanding work. Lastly,
companies can introduce this method as optional to avoid aggravating employees who are not
ready for change.

Audience
The initial audience is my instructor John McLean. The audiences that will be directly affected
by this change are employees who commute to office jobs.

Topics to Investigate
Some of the questions that I will be addressing in my report are:

What is telework? The topic must be clearly defined for our audience and for anyone who
doesnt have clear understanding.

Are companies truly embracing telework as a feasible commuting option? This question

analyzes how common teleworking is across the globe.

What are the benefits of having a telework program? Outlining the positives of
telelworking

What are the consequences of having a telework program? Outlining the drawbacks of
teleworking

How do telework programs aid in a company's productivity and overall competitiveness?

This question is to evaluate the effectiveness of teleworking.

What types of jobs are suitable for teleworking? This question is to assess if it can be used
effectively with different types of jobs, besides office jobs.

How much does it cost to set up a teleworker? This question focuses on how expensive it
will be for an organization to introduce teleworking.

Who is eligible to participate in Telework programs? The type of employee that can

properly use this option.

We chose to discuss these questions and concepts to simply inform readers about tele working.
This will help them grasp a better sense on whether teleworking is beneficial for them.
Furthermore, it will display the several different views on the topic that the research has
uncovered.

workplace.

Qualifications
My team is very qualified to fulfill the needs for this report. This report is going to need a
collection of unique skills and personnel to be properly completed. We must have a great
camaraderie and team chemistry to effectively use each members unique skills. We have
Isabelle who will proofread our report to make it is clear and concise as possible. Isabelle has a
degree in Human Resources. This qualifies her to hire the proper personnel to train employees
and handle the pilot project. This report needs a creative thinker like Rajeev who will brainstorm
ideas. He will be correcting issues that we encounter during pilot phase and finding ways to
make this project more accessible for employees. I will be useful in handing out duties and
making sure we are working towards creating a brilliant report/project. I will also be working
with Isabelle to analyze the fine details of the report and making sure they are relevant for the
report. Sebastian is a great team worker who will support Rajeev with his tasks because of his
ability to easily connect with people and adapt to different situations. He will also be assisting
Isabelle in completing some of her work to balance workload.

We will address all our issues as a group to figure out solution. As the group leader, I would be
responsible in getting theses issue resolved. If conflict continues to exist, we will seek help from
professor.
