Reflection

Reflection
The RWS class begun with a very delicate subject that has been talked about a lot and
that has gathered a lot of attention over the last few years. Women equality is becoming more and
more of an extremely sensitive subject. This is because of the ear that we live in now, and thanks
to this class and this specific subject, the topic has seen more light. It has also been very
inspirational to see all the students passionately find something to do with their majors and
associate that with this specific topic. Although it may have been difficult to find the right
information at times, the research was extremely thorough and this caused the students to
become more eager to understand the situation that

women equality

portrays.
The specific subject of women in

the

music industry had a big impact in

decisions that were made for the
research. A lot was also learned
about the things women have to go through in order to maintain a reputable career in that field
and also what other women had to sacrifice in order for the women of today to receive the
opportunities presented. Not only do women have it more difficult than men in some general
aspects, such as sex for example, but a lot of them have to put up with harassment in the
workplace, along with segregation and mistreatment only because they are women. That is not
fair to them at all and to really do some research on how others behave towards women in their
specific career field opens up your eyes to the problems in our society.

The good thing about this subject is that it really helps put to perspective not only the
separation between men and women, but also the amount of racial separation
between people and how divided we are. It is really sad to see that people treat
other people differently because of their differences in ethnicity, color, sex or
disabilities. This class and the subject chosen really helps you maintain an open mind
when it comes to equality among all people. People must always remember that no one is the
same and that does not mean that we are better or worse than anyone else. Hopefully more
students take this course and find great insight that will open their eyes to perhaps not this exact
subject, but something else that will help them become better as a person.
In conclusion this class served as a big eye opener for the subject towards women and the
equality they deserve and really makes you aware of the things that go on around us, but
sometimes we are too busy to notice them. This course would definitely be recommended to
another colleague.
