Modeling of the Concept
As a class we will discuss what a dictator is, and their job
during their dictatorship.

Guiding the Practice
After reading the two novels over several days, we will
compare and contrast the two dictators with a partner
using a Venn diagram. The students will then choose one
of the leaders and make a non-fiction picture book on
one of the leaders. The students will then share their
book with the class, and explain why they decided to use
that leader.
Providing the Independent Practice
Explain you want them to write the non-fiction book and
historical things that happened during that person
dictatorship.
Adaptations/Accommodations for Students with Special Needs
Student who has trouble reading will use headphones to
listen to each novel.
