BACKGROUND

SAP ERP is a client-server system that is hosted by UCC

Magdeburg
Using SAP ERP requires the client software SAP-GUI (GUI =
Graphical User Interface)
SAP GUI is available for Windows, MacOS and Linux
Using SAP GUI requires a working Java runtime environment
Access to SAP ERP is only possible from computers that are
connected with the on-campus KLU W-LAN (KLU IP address
range)

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Hardware:
min 4GB RAM
Software (WINDOWS)
Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (32- or 64-bit, Professional, Ultimate
and Enterprise Edition)
Visual C++ Libraries VS 2012
(This package is available in the bin directory of the SAP GUI
for Java installation)
Oracle Java SE 8 32- or 64-bit

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 and 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 and 12
openSUSE 13.1 and 13.2

C++ runtime: libstdc++.so.6
generally included with current distributions
Oracle Java SE 8 32- or 64-bit
Make sure that the Java Plugin is properly installed.

and download Java Platform (JDK)

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL JAVA RUNTIME

ENVIRONMENT

Click Accept License Agreement

Select your operating system, i.e. Mac OS X

ENVIRONMENT

Install Java runtime environment by clicking on

(you may need to have administrator rights on your laptop):
i.e. MAC OS X: jdk-8u101-macosx-x64.dmg
Follow the installation process

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL SAP GUI

Download SAP GUI from Moodle to your local harddisk and

unpack file into local folder
Windows: Download SAP_GUI_WIN.zip
Mac OS: SAP_GUI_JAVA_MAC.zip
Linux: SAP_GUI_JAVA_LINUX.zip
Installation
The complete installation program is contained in the
installation packages
To install SAP GUI:
Mac: double click on PlatinGUI740_2-20012037.JAR
Windows: double click on SAP_GUI_740.EXE
Linux: double click on PlatinGUI740_9-20012039.JAR
Follow the simple and dialog based procedure

Installation steps:
(1) Introduction
(2) Readme: Read the information and click Next.
(3) Define Options: Change the default settings for the
Installation Directory or the Installation Log File only if
necessary and decide whether you want to have a Desktop
icon created automatically.
Click Install.
(4) Install proceeds. SAP GUI for Java will be installed.
(5) Summary: Check the installation details if necessary and close
the dialog.

GETTING STARTED

Starting the Logon Window: Double-click the icon named SAP

GUI for Java on your desktop, or choose:
Windows: StartProgramsSAP ClientsSAP GUI for Java
from the Windows start menu.
Mac OS X: Finder Programs SAP Clients SAPGUI
Click New icon

GETTING STARTED

You will now need the connection data of the SAP system you
want to connect to.
Use the following settings
Save the connection details
Click Connect icon to connect
to SAP GUI
