recapping what was
achieved last semester
throughout both their folio
work and other
assessments.
They will also look at
some visual

Week 2:

Understanding the
Methods, Materials,
Medias of Visual
Communication.

Before moving onto the

more in-depth details of
the folio (development of
concepts, refinement,
final presentation),
students will undergo
workshops relating to the
methods, materials and
medias they can use in
order to push their
designs further.

Examples of past
students work(s) could
be used to allow students
to have a greater
understanding of each
stage of the design
process and how to apply
different techniques to
their own work.

Week 3:

Folio work, focusing on

applying methods,
materials and medias in
the development of
concepts stage.

After following tutorials

and workshops based on
the different techniques
of art, students will use
this knowledge and adopt
it within their own
designs and visual
communications.

Week 4:

Student Assessment and

folio work (development
of concepts).

At the beginning of the

week students will be
paired up and given an
assessment peer review
sheet, where each
student will read through
their partners brief and
mark them according to
how well they have met
the brief. They are also
required to leave
comments based on
what they may like, or
feel needs improving
(PMI sheets may be
useful).

for next weeks SAC.

Week 9:

Understanding the SAC

(Pitch).

During this week

students will be
introduced to their SAC
for Unit 4, the pitch. It will
be explained in depth to
the class so that they are
aware of what needs to
be completed and how
they are getting marked
(out of /20).

Examples of past
students Pitches will be
shown to the class as
they will be recorded for
future reference, and for
students to keep.
Ideas on how students
may want to complete
this SAC will also be
demonstrated (different
techniques, approaches,
etc).
The Teacher is to devise
a random selection
method for students to
follow so that they are
aware who is presenting
on which day in the next
few weeks.
The remainder of the
weeks lessons will be
used for students to
prepare themselves for
the up coming weeks.

Week 12:

Exam Preparation

During the remainder of

the semester students
are to study for the
upcoming Visual
Communication and
Design examination
which weighs 35% of
their overall mark in VCE.

Focus on one past exam

for students to complete
by the end of the week.
This does not have to be
completed under test
conditionsyet.

- Past Exams

Students are to attend

classes, and complete
past exams for the
teacher to mark, in
preparation for the real
one.

As well as completing
this weeks past
examination, students
are also encouraged to
learn the ins and outs of
design elements and
principles, through,
demonstrations and
examples.

preparation for the real

Each week will have a

different focus, although
past examinations will
still be looked at for
study.
Week 13:

Exam Preparation

This week will have a

focus on the
fundamentals of Visual
Communication and
Designs, that is the
Design elements and
principles.

Any tasks that have been

set by the teacher based
on the topic of study for
the week are also to be
completed.

Exam Preparation

Exam Preparation

This week will focus on

the technical drawings
and rendering for the end
of year examination.

After covering most of

the content that will be on
the exam, this week will
focus on answering
questions and
completing the last
question (which is often a
design question).
Students will study visual
communications once
again with more depth,
and how they are read
i.e.: its purpose,
audience, context, etc.

After focusing on the

fundamentals of design
elements and principles
a strong emphasis on
technical drawings and
rendering is needed as
they contribute to a large
portion of the
examination.

This week is important

for students as all their
hard work and study will
be put to testing very
soon. Making sure they
are prepared is key, and
by completing all the
exam preparation
lessons this is what we
