Journal 4: LSD
LSD, short for Lysergic Acid Diethylamide is a halogenic drug. It comes like a
white powder in its original form. They are made synthetically, and can be found in
Mushrooms. Hallucinogens are a diverse group of drugs that alter perception and make the
user lose contact with reality. LSD gives a crazy hallucination to the user which is why the
call this drug a Trip.
LSD is sold on the street in pills mostly. It is usually taken by mouth but sometimes
is injected. Often it is added to absorbent paper, such as sugar cubes, gelatin squares,
tablets, , and divided into small decorated squares, like the ones you see that are funny
designs like a Pikachu, snapchat logo, etc. With each square representing one dose. For a
higher effect, some people slit their wrists and put the drug into the blood. They have a 1 in
2 chances of having a severe overdose.
The effects of hallucinogens can begin within 20 to 90 minutes and can last as long
as 6 - 12 hours. Hallucinogen users refer to the experiences brought on by trips, and some
by calling the unpleasant experiences bad trips. Along with hallucinations, the short terms
of LSD are: increased heart rate, nausea, intensified feelings, changes in sense of time,
breathing rate, increased body temperature, loss of appetite, dry mouth, sleep problems,
spiritual experiences, relaxation, detachment from self/environment, uncoordinated
movements, excessive sweating, panic, paranoia, and psychosis.
